Yeah I do be browsing meta from time to time, lol. That proposal you have is super neat, man. Sure, posts can kind of divulge into battle for top comment in terms of content generation, but this can be toggled on or off yeah? I personally love observing the clown-fiesta for top comment. Makes sites like reddit fun to read, haha.

I’m familiar with reddit top answer, It makes user eager and have effort to provide a solid answer just to become on top answer. As you can see on my suggested thread, determining the top answer is trivial and raise a concern here because who will decide top answer and how can we determine it. But it’s really good feature once implemented properly including the toggle on/off button. Cheesy

Also, I want to open the discussion up more to security features of the forum, and proposed forum security features regarding user's account custody, management, settings, etc. Personally, I was impressed with the amount of security features the forum has.

For example:

The security question is left blank,
there is a link that says "Why is this blank?".

Very good stuff.

IIRC there’s already a proposal about cybersecurity board dedicated for the stuff that you mention. @Bencodie is the one who advocates this board to exist. You can check this https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/discussion-cybersecurity-and-privacy-board-poll-request-v1-5434404

Goonies never say die.
I think there is already a topic where all userscripts, add-ons, SMF patches for the forum are collected - Bitcointalk.org Userscripts/ Add-ons / SMF patches. What's wrong with it?

Not a horrible list, but for starters I can see it is missing the CSS for my themes and BPIP's latest extension(s)!  Grin

Sadly, it still lists a very old "BPIP Extension" as a dead project. Huh

So basically, to start that process, I'm curious on proposed changes to the forum itself that people have brought up over the years.

From what I understand, bitcoin culture revolves around heavily the phrase "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".

Legendary forum users: "Why? Just use electrum xd."?
From the way you cultured everything, I thought you really had a good idea about Bitcoin, not until I read this... Mannn, WTF are you thinking? Holy crap!  Okay.. help me out! Would you rather store your Bitcoins in a centralized forum (assuming we had anything like that)? That's more like refilling your casino wallets with all your worth and earnings - do you not know about non-custodial wallets? [/sup][you've spent almost 2 years in here already. I'm not even sure this account is operated by the original owner][/sup]

There have been several things proposed and disposed over the years ... I can actually wrap my head around gloves' patches ... Now, I could go on and on, but you haven't stated the exact year - which also makes everything very suspicious.

If you want to make a compilation of proposed additions to the forum, then i am afraid you have to do the research yourself and post it here, i don't really know what purpose it will serve, but if it is something you want to do, then go ahead and do it.

Oh, yea for sure. It's clear no one wants or needs a BTC wallet here. To me, it feels as if it is out of respect to satoshi, which I think is sweet. Doing something out of respect to the Founder is something that is commonplace in many changes with bitcointalk.org and bitcoin itself.
It feels like the opposite to me, how are you respecting the founder when you are using bitcoin in a way that is different from what they envisaged.

I think the founder envisioned a world operating on mass adoption of freedom and self custody.

But sure, technically what your saying is right. Following his literal wants and wishes in terms of how bitcoin is utilized is the goal. I guess if we wanna argue what satoshi envisioned we got to look through the 500+ pages he's got on here for starters. There's definitely something in there that verbalizes his wants/wishes regarding changes to the forum right? I just feel like if he made this technology that's so adaptable you would think he would want us to push the limits of what's possible and go where no man has gone before.

You will need to manually browse this Meta board starting from the first page to compile all the proposed changes here. Sadly, there’s no keyword that will help you since not all user put a “proposal” word to the subject of their thread since it was already posted on Meta.

I have a proposal before to add a “top answer” feature on beginners and help since some forum use this method to emphasize easily the correct answer to the question thread. This feature will be helpful on question board to prevent spam of repeated answer especially if the thread already have several pages.

One day I was like "Yo, why can't I have a bitcoin wallet in my bitcointalk.org acc?".
There is nothing like this because Satoshi Nakamoto designed Bitcoin to give us private keys and importance of private keys to secure our own funds (bitcoin).

There is a reminder from theymos, one of two current head admins.
Reminder: do not keep your money in online accounts

It will not happen in this forum.

Thank you for the link, it's a good one for new people!

Anything else besides bitcointalk.org having a wallet you can think of?

Like for example:

I want to add a function to lock my merit, so it can only be lowered not increased.

That way, when my merit hits 1337, I lock it and be L33T merit forever, which is cool as fuck lol.

You think satoshi would mind?

I'm someone that is very interested in the mechanics of social networking and things of that nature. I don't want to argue if bitcointalk.org is or is not a social netowork/media with this post.

From what I understand, bitcoin culture revolves around heavily the phrase "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". Like, there are always proposed changes or additions to bitcoin software itself that are simply deemed not necessary or too overcomplicated by a higher council. In this case, the high council consists of those with a high stake in the network, the core developers of the software, a few hundred forum users, and satoshi.

And I'm someone hellbent on explaining to the world that bitcointalk.org or any place that is the central public place to talk about bitcoin deemed by the community, is vital to bitcoin itself and mass adoption. bitcointalk.org = bitcoin

So basically, to start that process, I'm curious on proposed changes to the forum itself that people have brought up over the years. One of the most valuable use cases of the forum itself, is the people that use it every day, and the knowledge in their nice little heads.

For example:

One day I was like "Yo, why can't I have a bitcoin wallet in my bitcointalk.org acc?".

Legendary forum users: "Why? Just use electrum xd."?

So I ask all of you guys here,

What are some of the most famous proposed changes that got accepted?
What are some of the most famous proposed changes that still are up for debate?
What are some of the worst propose changes?

Porque?
