Seems like bad form on their part. Just because someone took their assets out doesn't mean they're not going to put them back in at a later date. It actually seems like a disincentive toward it and I can't understand any reason to do so.

I just realized something do any of these exchanges allow you to delete your account?

I just logged into Mt Gox and checked this out and sure enough, as I thought, there is a Delete Account option provided.

Ah, this is good to know. I don't want to use a service which might just close my account due to personal differences so thank you for the warning.

Watching these people unwind their businesses is something of a spectacle.

Your account had no balance and Intersango LTD decided to terminate the relationship.

Please take your "business" elsewhere.

This sounds very unilateral. Poorly done indeed.
I thank bitnumus for the warning. (even if he was a 'nuisance' on IRC)
This doesn't sound like the sort of exchange I would like to use.

+1

Rule #1 (or even #0!) of customer service: The customer is king.

The case in point sounds like petty footstomping and displays the kind of attitude more commonly seen from stark monopolies (government or otherwise) than a private business.

There might not (yet?) be as many BTC exchange options as we'd like, but the business is not monopolistic, even with Mt Gox coming close.

Clearly i have taken my "business" elsewhere.

My point is you think its fine to close accounts because they have 0 balance, without contacting the account owner, or the owner having no way at all to know why.

I had every right to question my account access being limited, i didnt know my balance was 0 you never contacted me...

Phantomcircuit is a known asshole, don't worry about him. (you can search for bitcoinica threads if you are really bored and read about his involvement in people losing hundreds of thousands of dollars - he is not the only one to blame but it is worth knowing)
