f) A feature 99,99% of the people doesn't need or will ever need.

Who does not want to surf/browse & download faster?

NIC Teaming would just let you surf faster if you've several NICs... if you've just one (as 99,99% of the folks) what would that makes for you?!

a) So install it on their language. If they're French, why the heck will they install it in English? Win 7 has more languages, it's the lame language change (not mandatory English) feature which isn't available for low end versions.

b) neither an issue or a requirement. Either way, if your HD is nearly dead, you won't bring it to CIA or FBI to decrypt.

Measure OS performance by boot time is lame. Start the services later on manually, will boot fast, just half-stopped.

c) NO! I don't see anything "that good" on Macs, specially since they're Intel/BSD.

d) You can keep it... touchscreen is one of those things which is fun for the first week. (Well, you can attach a keyboard to it later on)

e) Good luck in that one.

f) A feature 99,99% of the people doesn't need or will ever need.

g) You rather love that game... I used to play Unreal Tournament back on early 2000's with Wine anyway.

h) What's about that?

there are 2 kinds of linux: debian type or red hat type. (terminal commands are different su or sudo)

Wrong! There're more; SuSE, Knoppix/Gentoo and the main difference is in the config locations (/etc/, /etc/sysconfig/...), "sudo" is more an Ubuntu thing than a "Debian" one.

Linux is much better than W7 x64 Ultimate... for a lot of things.
only W7 Ultimate can change OS language &  BitLocker Drive encryption.... the other W7 cant (Basic, Starter, Bussines).
W7 Starter & Basic are limited to 2GB Ram, also very limited desktop configuration.

Actually in a Desktop environment with full GUI, Windows 7 can do more with 2Gb or Ram then Xorg with 4... the "missing features", a) why change language?! b) that's just useful for paranoia and I would strongly discourage BitLocker or encrypted filesystems unless you're a pedophile or someone storing "very" (and really, I mean REALLY, not MP3 of you singing in the shower) sensitive data. Encryption will also voids recovering...

Nothing compares to Photoshop on the matters of image editing and certainly not GIMP, as also the OS "alternatives" to AutoDESK products are way lame.

The "surplus" of APT (or it's equivalents, as Yum, Emerge or Yast) is to lure folks who don't even understand what that thing does. You may complaint that you need to update DirectX for a game, but when you apt-get something, it will bring along a shit load of libraries and dependencies. To not mention "versioning", the most annoying feature of all Linuxes.

I'm not an "Anti-Linux" or "Pro-Win" kind of guy, but so far for PC Linux can't yet compare to Windows... maybe one day it will, hopefully.

a) 5.7Billion people don't live in the USA... most have to deal with 2 languages or more,
makes most people have bad orthography.

b) the use of drive encryption is not the issue...

Windows Ultimate has it, Linux has it.
The CIA, FBI, CSI, NSA have ways to decrypt encryption.

ive seen Compaq laptops with Windows 7 Starter, SLOOOW.
you want to upgrade the Ram... No you cant.. unless you upgrade the Windows too.

c) you are Pro-Mac, Pro-FreeBSD.
d) Photoshop is free for iPad2.
e) you can vote here: Adobe for Linux. { 11496 people like this. }

f)
Windows does not have Native NIC Teaming... lame, the only OS that does not.

The Best by Far is BAMT 0.4B - Absolutely the best dedicated Bitcoin Mining OS. Download, generate IMG to thumb drive, boot it configure two very simple config files and your away! It is absolutely fantastic, I got a 30% Gain in speed from using Win7 & Guiminer, you set your graphics cards GPU Clock, Mem Clock & Fan Speed for each card in the main config file, then configure a simple pool file, has failover support and many features. I have tested just about everything and this is the best!

Ubuntu Linux encrypted harddrive Wink I use windows 7 if i absolutly have to(Photoshop, Left 4 dead 2, starcraft 2, etc, etc)

why not Gimp?
or Fedora-15-x86_64-Live-Design-suite.iso

i love Pingus "lemming for Linux"
Stunts (remember that old DOS game?), ManiaDrive 1.2, Extreme Tux racer, SuperTux, SuperTux2, SuperTuxkart, Lincity, Foobilliard, Trackballs, etc...

what OS do you use ?

i have Linux Ubuntu 11.x x64 with Classic mode (double taskbars) don't like the Unity desktop. (OSX launcher type)
AMD-APP-SDK-v2.4-lnx64.tgz, etc...

want to install in other machines/ or hard drives:
debian-6.0.2.1-amd64-xfce+lxde-CD-1.iso
Fedora-15-x86_64-Live-XFCE.iso
Fedora-15-x86_64-Live-Games.iso
Fedora 15 Live-KDE
Fedora-15-x86_64-Live-Design-suite.iso
debian KDE
openSuse
Gentoo
RedHat
Slackware

Ubuntu can install or change any OS language.
Boots faster... Faster to Install... needs less Ram... but can have all the Ram your board allows.
Internet is ready from day 1, no need to install WiFi drivers with Qpcom.
Ubuntu software center has almost all software available for Linux ready to install. (No need to Browse internet, enter web pages, figure out where its the download page, click more to download, search the HDD, and Install the software.)
also...
i can browse internet with no lag @ 100% cpu load!! doing F@H SMP2.
try that on Windows.-
i can choose if i want the (X)(_)([_]) on the left like OSX or on the right like Windows7,

W7 Aereo its very nice...
Ubuntu 4 desktops (Ctrl+Alt+Arrows) are very interesting.
AMD/ATI has drivers for multiple desktops in Windows7 but... feels like a weird add-on.

Gimp is so gimp... Tongue

but seriously the amount of time it takes for me to remember just one to 3 menu structures is just ridiculously long besides that gimp is pretty good

I use OSX Snow Leopard at the moment. :-)

I have a Macbook but I might get a desktop PC which would help me run things 24/7. If I choose to o that it's either going to be a Mac mini or maybe a Linux PC.

Windows Vista here.  Used desktop linux a bit on my old quadruple-boot pc, but couldn't use it all the time as there are specific programs I run that only have Windows releases.
