Very few, even in the UK.

Just read the article:

The UK Payments Council was originally planning to abolish all cheque payments by 2018, but was forced to change its mind after public opposition.

They really should've just killed them off. Hopefully Bitcoin can help with that.

Don't forget the UK has a very ageing population. They are scared of change. Many still get their pensions that way. I don't think bitcoins would do it for them .... give it a few years ... or 10 Smiley

People get their pensions in cheques? Surely it's all bank transfers now?

What's funny about this is that you need a LAW to make this happen in almost 2014.  So who knows, it still may not happen!  What doesn't the government control?  They will try to regulate XBT around the world, and in some countries it will work.  But hopefully there are enough free thinking countries left...
