Exactly how that plays out, and how we can best take advantage of it and enable it with PayPal, that’s something we’re actively considering. It’s on our radar screen.

He has "considered" bitcoin for so long and hasn't done much. I appreciate there is much to think about: like how to enable bitcoin on paypal but keeping in good terms with credit card companies; and how to introduce bitcoin into the ecosystem without letting users circumvent paypal completely. I do hope they are making progress  Undecided

But what to do with the fact that many countries want to make Bitcoin illegal, e.g. Russia?

I have posted this many times before. Russia hasn't banned Bitcoin, and they are not going to ban it in anytime during the near future. The only country which has taken steps towards banning the coins is China.

When asked by a shareholder about bitcoin’s potential role in global trade, Donahoe responded by saying that the digital currency “will play a very important role in the future

I agree with his opinion.

You can not rely on Russia's position. This is an unique country. Russia has its own position on any issue.

You can see that Bitcoin is becoming  mainstream in Europe and USA.
And I like the idea that Ebay will accept BTC someday.

Ebay CEO has said quite a lot while ebay inc has done nothing.

He'll have board members he needs to appease. This mention from him seems more of we're keeping an eye on it and not ruling it out rather than we're seriously thinking about implementing it. If they had any sense though they should be keeping a very close eye on it and working out how they could possibly implement it, which by what he said is what they're doing, so it's probably as good a news as we're going to get from eBay for the time being.

Exactly. On the outside he is giving an impression that he is sympathetic to the digital currency. But the truth is that Ebay would like to see the end of Bitcoin very soon. Ebay is silently lobbying up with Master / Visa, Western Union.etc to destroy the Bitcoin.
