They can never shut it down, there will always be a new silkroad.
You cant put the toothpaste back in the tube.
Also i think its a way better idea then what we have now,
Alot of people killing eachother over drugs, and with silkroad the violence is cut out.

Alcohol used to be illegal and cost a lot.

Marijuana seems to be walking the same path.

The war on drugs is very profitable for certain individuals

Many government jobs will disappear if drugs are legalized.

The Silk Road marketplace lives on, despite intense government efforts to stop it

There is a high demand to buy drugs, so there will always be sites/supplier.  In addition to SR, several other sites have opened (so I've heared).
Demand is high: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_prevalence_of_cocaine_use

This war on drugs really should end. It's pointless, it's like war on gravity.

The Silk Road continues to operate but certainly silk road has suffered a lot of damage after the feds took it down.... I dont think silk road will be able to operate for more than a year

I don't think so. The SR 2.0 is completely different from the original Silk Road. The admins are different and they are definitely much more competitive than the Dread Pirate Roberts.

"The Silk Road can only be accessed on the Tor browser, which provides complete anonymity for users."

That's assuming the exit nodes you're using aren't compromised..
Exit nodes have nothing whatsoever to do with hidden services.

I am not sure about this... but in my opinion, at least the soft drugs (such as cannabis) must be made legal. And back to the topic, the SR 2.0 admins have proved themselves to be extremely trustworthy, after refunding the vendors of their lost Bitcoins. I wouldn't say that I completely agree with the SR 2.0 business. But it was a noble act to refund the vendors.
