Seen this before.  They will fork but have a huge premine and sell on exchange and then disappear.
Loads of shitcoins have tried to fork and get nowhere.

This is a great fork.
At first I tought the hashrate voting was going to point an ASIC sucess, but aparently Linzhi and Bitmain are too lazy to code PPNO onto their nodes.
Or maybe I am wrong and ASICs aren't dominating current Ethereum hash rate, right? Since that's a big secret, that's why Monero forks every 6 months.
Then the second suprise was that Ethereum holders also voted in majority for ProgPow.
The majority of the community wants ProgPow, except the centralized lobby of ASIC manufacturers and some members within Ethereum Foundation.
Cryptocurrencies were meant to be decentralized, is it that hard to understand? Maybe it is.
At first the Ethereum time bomb was good because it forced people to fork, now that Ethereum ProgPow is forking synchronously with Constantinople they want to remove it, that way noone would ever fork and Ethereum would continue as it is. A coin walking towards centralization.
PoS is far from happening, and it will keep getting delayed over and over. Until they are all filthy rich.
I will point all my hash rate into supporting Ethereum ProgPow.

How can this help the miners?

Will the net decrease? however this is forking time but i heard that there is already some fpga able to mine this algo.

I have been tired of mining ethash from the beginning.  I hope this algo will be better. As usual it will be more profitable the altcoins forked from this algo for little miners. i never unserstood the people that continued to mine ethereum also if it is not profitable . you are losing money. the net is safe . so why continue to mine.

Good question.

Maybe I can post some comparison about ProgPoW and Constantinople but I wouldn't do it to avoid confusion.

Instead I recommend you to spend your time researching about the effect of Constantinople Hardfork and ProgPoW algorithm, issuance reduction on Ethereum , etc.

Note that ethereum is paying a lot of inflation toward miners, if this discontinues, it will effect other GPU mineable cryptocurrencies in a bad way so there is no way going out from this.
