Sounds like driver issues.  Had the same problem when I first started with my 5850.

Had to do a fresh install of Windows and used Catalyst 13.1 and everything worked fine.

I'm using 13.4 at the moment. Can I downgrade it without reinstalling Windows?

yes, of course you can

You might be able to.  I needed a fresh install because I was using an NVIDIA card before putting in my 5850, then I proceeded to download like 5 different versions of Catalyst and SDK so I couldn't get it to work right.  I finally got cgminer to work but then was getting nonce errors.

Uninstall everything and use Catalyst 13.1 and see if it works.

The errors definitely look like driver errors though.

Once you get GUIminer working, I suggest moving to cgminer.  You will notice better hashrates with that.

I would try another pool like BTC Guild and see if it works, if it still doesnt work, I would try a different driver version(older version) than the one you are currently using.

I tried the 50BTC pool with 50Miner and that didn't work either Sad

hmm... Is your GUIMiner an old version? or using an older version of a miner?

if memory serves there may be an issue with GUIMiner pointing at Slush's pool.  I am not sure it has been updated to the current address.

try selecting other - then enter stratum.bitcoin.cz  and port 3333 to see if you can get a connection that way.

72 MH/z is about right for a low spec 5670

I tried stratum.bitcoin.cz and port 3333 in GUIMiner, no errors so far.
Thanks

edit: Spoke too soon Sad

if you click on view and bring up the console what does it say? It looks like you are having connection issues as no shares have been accepted, also what sort of card are you using 72 MHZ is to slow to be profitable these days.

Here's what it shows in the console
Code:
2013-07-01 10:50:35: Listener for "Default": api2.bitcoin.cz:8332 01/07/2013 10:50:35, Verification failed, check hardware! (1:0:Redwood, b6105806)

I am using a HD5670 to mine  Embarrassed

I'm using GUIMiner with Slush's pool, I have made my account and made a worker and I have left it mining for a while to find there's still 0 shares accepted?

Here's a screenshot of my GUIMiner

Also the worker on my account shows 0 mhash/s
