alright. just saw the OP's account got unbanned nwo. congrats
but the main question is still exist. who is using the official bitcointalk page which is created by sirius? and why they are asking for money to unban account? are some bitcointalk moderators just started scamming peoples here? is this sirus himself doing all this? or the page got hacked?(hacking only a page is not possible BTW, if I am right.)

It seems a scam. Firstly i don't think so bitcointalk.org have any facebook page, If there is any page of bitcointalk.org they should not discuss these matters on facebook. And if there is any fee to get unbanned its seems funny that they lowered the fee to 0.1BTC because the person is from finnland.

There is actually a possibility that this one was created by sirus as it has a single post from 2012.

It would still be unwise to do any kind of business with it though.

Right.
AFAIK facebook has a real name policy, so I don't know if that account can be used anyway.
I think scammer created a page by that name
~snipped image~
Bitcointalk.org can contact facebook and get this account removed or still better this name given to forum for fb account
Or we could make a community action and mass report the account. But somehow it will not give a permanent solution, the scammer might create another page again and do the same thing. Maybe just let people know that this forum doesn't have an FB account. However, only newbies and stupid people would get scammed by this type of scammer anyway.
Maybe a better solution is that moderators create a facebook page and here users like it so everyone who searches can find it first and do not go other pages.

Here's a link to make it easier for everyone that is lazy. Do you (by any chance) know the reason behind this ban? I've failed to find information regarding that ban. Keep in mind that sending any money to that Facebook account is not going to do anything.

Have not gotten any reason as answer from anywhere.
He will not send any money. He immediately suspected a scam

Ask them if they accept escrow for this Tongue Which you know yourself that they won't, or they will come up with some illogical conclusion that you should trust that they can do what they say that they can. Good thinking by not sending them a dime, matter of fact, you should ask them for some.

Good. What message does he get when he tries logging in?
Is it possible for him to sign the address posted here? If so, has he tried following this guide anbd contacting theymos?

The only forms of contact you should trust is through a PM directly to theymos on this forum; any others have a fair chance of being bogus.

Lol, this screams scam. Why would that 'bitcointalk' guy lowered the fee? This is a typical hit-and-run scam.

theymos didn't even charge a penny for account recovery. :O

I could say that this is ridiculous.
Definitely.

Done.

Bitcointalk does not have a Facebook account.

Is bitcointalk really charging 0.25BTC for unlocking account! That's approx $140 according to today's exchange ratio!
No, it isn't. Please give us the link to the Facebook account and the username of the account that is locked so that we can investigate what actually happened. There are multiple reasons for which an account could end up locked.

Something isn't right here. I've never heard of a mod that has the ability to ban and banned people randomly. Also, August 2015 and then he gets a reply on July 2016. Well, no reason to believe OP yet because there's no screenshot or any other proof that this is for real. If it's for real though, it's likely that the person he was talking to was just a person pretending to be an admin of this forum to scam OP's friend.

We are not on Facebook, you are talking with a scammer.

Please tell us your username so that we can look into it. What exactly does the message tell you when you logged in?

You don't need to pay for an account to get unbanned. It depends on the moderator if you get the account back or not. Might want to tell us which is the account you are referring to? It's hard to guess what the problem might be.

Why are they then trying to charge me 0.25BTC for unbanning?
The fee was lowered to 0.1BTC because he's from Finnland, I could say that this is ridiculous.

Where did this discussion happen? Who is that Bitcointalk you are referring to?
From what I see you are accusing a mod for trying to scam you for some BTC for a free service...

That's weird, will you please elucidate your statement? what email address did you email? a screenshot of all the conversation you've made with that email could do..

Talking about facebook, last time when we are getting a bad gateway error, I once talk to a page (BitcoinTalk.org) that's the exact page, and the page reply later on that "The forum is always down right now." I really find it weird and I think that's grammatically wrong, So I think it's not really a bitcointalk page...

That sounds like your pal is about to be scammed.

They do charge to register from a blacklisted ip but it's nothing like that much as far as i know.

And why would bitcointalk be talking through facebook.

The mods are carefully selected. All sounds very fishy.

Can u please show the screenshot of the all the conversation that you had with them because i dont think that they would need such an amount just to unban an account. Also do u remember the username of that account so that i can look and see why you was banned. But if that wasn't much useful then i would suggest you use this new account now.

Hello,
My friend got banned from bitcointalk.org for about a year ago and he had only browsed and read the forum for over a month before the ban.
He did not get any reason for the ban.

He sent mail to a e-mailadress that was mentioned when he tried to get he's account unlocked. Did not receive a reply

Here is a conversation that he has had with bitcointalk on facebook

Hello, it says on bitcointalk.org that I have gotten banned. I was on my vacation and logged in quite rarely during that time and did not do anything else than read posts. How is it possible that I get banned for no reason? And no answers from the mail adress is says that I should mail to

We have recently unemployed a number of moderators who were randomly banning certain people as an attack on the forum. Now we can recover the account if it is still of any use to you...

Well certainly a very long time ago I used the account but if possible it would be nice to get it recovered
