Major Japanese brokerage firm Monex has finally landed a major deal that would see the company take over the the Tokyo-based Coincheck exchange which suffered a major hack in January.

According to Nikkei, Coincheck will accept a multimillion dollar takeover bid from Japanese online trading platform Monex. The deal would see Monex replace the management team as it tries to rebuild the Coincheck platform after the January hack that saw the exchange losing a total of $530 million in NEM tokens.

The companies are still in talks over the terms and form of investment, the report adds, the details of the deal will be disclosed on Friday, April 6.

Monex’s foray into the cryptocurrency industry comes amid its belief that blockchain, the technology behind cryptographic currencies like Bitcoin, will boost its core operations as an important online broker.
