i will use tha jhoon the riper but how to instal i t on linux?

How to build JohnTheRipper on Ubuntu Linux

Here's how to make an optimal build of latest bleeding-edge code on Ubuntu Linux. Most of it applies to other distros too (also works for Ubuntu on Windows https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/commandline/wsl/).
Install pre-requisites:
Required stuff

Code:
  sudo apt-get install build-essential libssl-dev

Recommended (extra formats and performance)

Code:
  sudo apt-get install yasm libgmp-dev libpcap-dev libnss3-dev libkrb5-dev pkg-config libbz2-dev zlib1g-dev

If you have an NVIDIA GPU (CUDA and OpenCL support)

Code:
  sudo apt-get install nvidia-cuda-toolkit nvidia-opencl-dev

If you have an AMD GPU (or want to use CPU as OpenCL device)

Code:
  sudo apt-get install fglrx-updates-dev

Optional MPI support

Code:
  sudo apt-get install libopenmpi-dev openmpi-bin

Optional REXGEN support (additional cracking modes)

Cmake needs to be 2.8.12 or above. Ubuntu 14.04 LTS has this.
Code:
  sudo apt-get install subversion cmake bison flex
  mkdir ~/src && cd ~/src
  svn checkout https://github.com/teeshop/rexgen.git rexgen
  cd rexgen/trunk/src/
  mkdir build && cd build
  cmake ..
  make && sudo make install

Clone latest bleeding-edge Jumbo and build:
Clone GIT repo
Code:
  cd ~/src
  git clone git://github.com/magnumripper/JohnTheRipper -b bleeding-jumbo john

Build
Code:
  cd ~/src/john/src
  # For MPI, use './configure --enable-mpi' below
  ./configure && make -s clean && make -sj4

Test your build:

Code:
  $ ../run/john --test=0 --format=cpu

To benchmark, drop the =0 argument to –test.

To test OpenCL or CUDA formats, or both, use –format=[cuda|opencl|cuda].

To test specific format(s) just name them. Wildcards are OK, eg. –format=lotus*

I don't interested to download any file from like this type of website, where the Chinese language is used instead of English.

The reward is to good to be true and there's something shady about this task. First of all why would the OP want to crack this wallet and Second of all to whom this wallet might belong to ?

Interested to know what progress in such a difficult and grandiose. Although if the password has quite a large number of characters (20) I don't think this will lead to a positive result Smiley

ther must be a way to decrypt this wallet  file maybe pywallet?
Just give it up already, 1 BTC is not worth enough for the energy and time you've spent on it
Im pretty sure this company is not stupid, they put a long-ass password and then decrypt the wallet itself with 512 hash or something like that to prove it's safe.

This thing is not gonna get cracked unless you got NSA powered computer to do the cracking Cheesy

First post was from 2014, and no one cracked it. You need to think that its a very difficult process to crack it, near impossible with today computers. Save this post it try it in five or teen years.

how to check File for Virus first?
If you don't know how to check file for a virus then you probably don't want to download this file in the first place. As there is NO WAY that you will crack it.

This is waste of time, im pretty sure the password is not just 5 letters long password, im pretty sure they used a random password generator with 15 letters or more Roll Eyes
You will need NASA computer to crack this one Wink

If they wanted to make sure that this wallet is secure to prove their point then  password is probably much longer than 15 characters and is near impossible to brute force.
Without serious cracker knowledge I wouldn't bother with this bounty at all.
looks like your friend amazon refunder up there managed to get the first 7 letters Roll Eyes
But who knows how many letters are inside the file Tongue
It might take years just to open the file or even more Sad

how to check File for Virus first?

Check it on virultotal.com , you will get full report from every anti virus .
It doesn't help when the virus is FUD. Or better said, undetectable or still not detected. The virus could be cryptic inside the zip file.
If it has a virus that is undetected and you open it - boom, your coins on your computer are gone Wink

Why are people bragging it as a virus file ? I don't think its a virus file since its .dat the most it can do is mess up your system 32 files .You don't have to execute this file ,just save the file as something else and scan using some good virus scanner .

If you are still doubting this file, I would suggest you go to the original website to see the details: http://www.joybtc.com/zh-cn/pd/pda.php?id=A00001

This wallet is not mine, it is belong to JoyBTC. JoyBTC wants to prove they can protect the users money securely, so they make a wallet like this. But I think there should be geek/hacker who can crack this wallet, so I write this thread here. JoyBTC's weibo(twitter):http://weibo.com/joybtc

As long as it is 10+ characters , nobody is going to break it soon ever

12 alphanumeric characters is safe enough to withstand an array of computers all attempting to crack it and 13 characters could probably handle any technological advances for the next half a century.

Unless his password is something like "Password123456" lol. Cheesy

Let the hackers do their job. Smiley. I am still thinking, is it really can able to get cracked?

Depends on the length of the password. If the point is to show that the wallet is uncrackable then they'd have created a long password (possibly one that is ridiculous in length and not realistic to the memory of a person) which means by the time you get past it you'd be long dead. Only way I can see you cracking it is if there is a flaw/exploit in the encryption - but it is rather unlikely.

Why can't it be cracked? Is it because the password has a massive amount of characters? Does anyone know how long the password is?

Has the 1 Bitcoin been discovered yet? I can't say its worth the effort to encrypt or not!
According to the blockchain.info link OP provided, the 1 BTC is still there in the wallet.

And I guess it will stay there for a good long while. As far as I understood it the people that put the wallet out there did so to prove that they are capable of securely storing the Bitcoin of their customers. Thus I believe they have chosen a passphrase (40+ chars) instead of just a password (8 to 13 characters), which means it is unable to brute force at this time and unless they give out hints or someone already had a keylogger on the machine on which the wallet was encrypted the wallet won't ever be decrypted/cracked.

1. No idea if the file contains malware.
2. Even if it is clean and the wallet does contain 1 btc, there is no way you can bruce force the password, unless the password is short (like 8 characters).

Download the encrypted bitcoin wallet here: http://pan.baidu.com/s/1o6qc0QY

The extraction password is 1btc

The wallet have 1 bitcoin inside, but the wallet is encrypted, if any body can crack the wallet password, then the 1 BTC is yours. The address in the wallet is 1CRmTfTfWV551GhHpAF3Pqv27MYHoyzGJU, everyone can monitor the address at blockchain.info(https://blockchain.info/address/1CRmTfTfWV551GhHpAF3Pqv27MYHoyzGJU) and if the 1 BTC has been transferred, we can assume somebody have cracked the wallet successfully.

You have to be computer illiterate to suspect a non-executable file being a 'virus'. It's just a archive with a wallet.dat inside it

I guess the download-File is a Virus. I am not in a safe environment here to test it, but I would recommend for everybody, do don't download it.

Everyone can use the virus software scan the zip file first, then decide to do it. Follow my weibo here for update: http://weibo.com/3914834207/profile?topnav=1&wvr=5

Why are you doing this? Did you forget your password? Do you remember parts of it?
Or is it just a challenge?
Or is this to proof you cannot (successfully) brute-force an encrypted wallet and therefor it's safe even if someone obtains it?
