This warning simply means that the wallet you use is (too) old and must be updated

You don't have to use old software. Newer Litecoin wallets are all backwards compatible with your wallet.dat

P.S. 02:56 here as well, haha! I'll make sure to get back to you tomorrow. I'm sure I can help you.

Which wallet were you using? You probably want to use the same wallet as you were originally using. If you did, you might want to try an older version of that wallet.

As an example, if you were using electrum ltc, you may want to try an older version of the wallet.

that is strange thing, I have tried to find old wallet versions and to try all of them but I count find any of those, then my logic was that wallet is like a program for mail, no matter which one you use mails are still on server... maybe I am wrong - Im graphic designer  Smiley

thanks

From my experience with cryptocurrencies, you must recover a wallet with the same wallet that you used to back up your wallet. You can't recover a btc seed from electrum to multibit hd.

What was the name of the wallet that you used to backup your LTC with? I have resources that I can use to find old stuff on the web with.
I dont know which version was, it was wallet from official litecoin web site that is what I know, I believe it was 2013 when I have installed it but I am not sure even that.
If you are willing to install few wallets on my PC and try if it works 1 LTC is yours, or if you can trust me that I will send you 1 LTC I can install and tell you if my balance is OK again.

Thanks Ways2MakeMoney

Here is a link to the wallet listed on the litecoin website in april? of 2013

This is probably the wallet you were using, here is the download link web.archive.org/web/20130413073209/http[Suspicious link removed]

Try to restore it with this wallet, if you are not using the windows operating system, then let me know and I'll a link to the right operating system for you.
It looks like the one I have used, not sure if its the same.
I have found wallet.dat here C:\Users\Nemanja\AppData\Roaming\Litecoin and I have replace it with my wallet.dat, is that what I suppose to do?
What should I do next?
Right now I am receiving message from wallet> ALERT key compromised, upgrade rquired
I will go to sleep now, its 2.50 AM at my place, will continue tomorrow.
Thank you Ways2MakeMoney

*-this is also answer to freihain for guiding about replacing file. Thanks freihain

Dear Nemanja,

How did you try to replace the wallet.dat?

This is what should actually be enough to work for you to be able to access your litecoins:

1. quit your litecoin client, make sure it doesn't run
2. navigate to your wallet's location. Windows: (%APPDATA%\Litecoin\   Example: C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Litecoin
Mac:  ~/Library/Application Support/Litecoin/
3. replace only the wallet.dat in that folder with your old backup one
4. Launch the Litecoin Client, (perhaps check the wallet's addresses on block explorer to confirm before it finishes syncing) and wait for your wallet to sync

What I have tried so far:

add wallet.dat to new wallet, I have tried LTC core, electrum. -0 balance
add few private keys to new wallet -0 balance
tried 3-4 python programs including pywallet -0 balance
testing addresses from dump wallet, from one file (first one/ I thought I am smart) I have tried all addresses. -0 balance to each address

What I got:
new wallet 0 balance
different results for addresses and private keys from different scripts and python progs, I have tested 3% from each file.
almost all scripts shows that I have around 99-102 addresses

I am a graphic designer, I hate python (but it is awesome program)

I dont want to do something that I dont really understand.

And that is why I need someone who does.

Thanks for support and advices, please if someone knows this stuff and 1 LTC is enough I am more then willing to pay.

I don't know too much, but isn't it possible to copy the private key, and import it in an online wallet?
Might be a stupid idea, but IMO it could work.

Also, you can check if the wallet really has 0 LTC by checking the address on https://live.blockcypher.com/ltc/

I did check only one private key trough LTC console, it needed 3 hours to check it! And after that I have received message: null

You should be able to set up an online wallet in 2 minutes and check it.
For example, you can use litevault.net
If I was doing right with python and wallet.dat file then there is about 100 private keys in some of results that I got, but I think I didnt Smiley And from several scrpits I got different private keys (that is how I know that I dont know exactly what I am doing, just using scripts that I dont understand)

thanks Josepht

I would check the address you had coins in first on a block explorer to make sure its still in that wallet.

besides that it should be as simple as starting a new client with the old wallet.dat and it will update with the new chain after download.

do you have the address that your coins are held on?

I have new wallet, synced, but balance shows 0.00LTC

I dont have address that is used for receiving funds.

I have tried all addresses from test1.txt on http://explorer.litecoin.net/ and every time I got message - Address not seen on the network.

I have lost over 20 hours doing something I dont know, I would rather give 1LTC for 1 hour work to someone who knows.

thanks

Hello everybody,
I have old wallet.dat backup from litecoin wallet, I believe its from 2013.  I dont have anything else. I have tried to put wallet.dat to new wallet but it says 0.00 LTC.

On that wallet I had 7 LTC, my offer is 1 LTC for someone to recover my funds.

I dont want guides and advice's, I have already tried all I new (all I have read on this web site), I dont know programming but I have managed somehow with python and still no success.

my offer is 1 LTC to someone who is willing to recover my funds directly on my PC trough TeamViewer, the one who succeed can also send 1 LTC right away from my PC

This is part of results that I got from pywallet, maybe that can help you to to know if you can do the job (I have put XXXXXX to some data):
C:\Python27>pywallet.py --dumpwallet --otherversion=48 --datadir=c:\ > c:\test1.txt
results from test1.txt>>>
Warning: adress prefix seems bad (128 vs 176)
The wallet is not encrypted
