Just for the sake of discussion, and going for the interpretation that many have made on this thread (1M$ in BTC, not 1M BTC), according to the article referenced down below, there are around 100K BTC addresses with a BTC equivalent greater or equal to 1M$.

Of course this is all an n:m:[p] game (n addresses belong to m people - and are grouped behind p wallets), so there’s no way of telling how many people really have an equivalent of 1M$ in BTC, but it gives us a playing field play with.

See: https://bitcoinmagazine.com/markets/bitcoin-wallets-with-more-than-1-million
The article references the source of the image, which leads to a site where, at first sight, I can’t seem to find it. I’ve seen the same site referenced on another article with similar information, but still pointing to a chart which differs from that of the image.

Having 1M BTC in one single wallet (n enclosed addresses therefore) would be equivalent to currently owning 5,35% of all existing bitcoins to date (some 18,7M). [...]
It is quite possible that either Jeff Bezos or Elon Musk is hiding behind the nickname Newlifebtc, since no average statistical millionaire (or any ordinary person) will think that 5% ($ 60 billion .. lol) of all existing bitcoins is a small amount. As for Satoshi's million BTC, in addition to pooya87's rather reasonable answer [there is a difference between "wallet" and "address" in bitcoin], I also came across one rather logical assumption.

The main assumption is that everytime he debugged his client and updated it, it created a new wallets/files and be didnt back up the previous
take this quote that shows early versions needed backing up entire folders, (imagine backing up a folder every time you edited a line of code).
4. What files need to be backed up for not losing my "money"?
Version 0.1.5: backup the whole %appdata%\Bitcoin directory.
Version 0.2: you can backup just wallet.dat.
It was just a experiment back then so there was no value in keeping the private keys ... assumptions were that after a few months of bug fixing everything would be reset and born again (but too many joind and it instead just continued to live and it wasnt until 2010 before h made it simple to backup).

To me 1million btc is not too much or surprising to be talked about ,people have more than that <…>
You know we’re talking about bitcoin on this thread, not altcoin right? Having 1M BTC in one single wallet (n enclosed addresses therefore) would be equivalent to currently owning 5,35% of all existing bitcoins to date (some 18,7M). People have more than that .. really?

Note that the context of the OP talks about 1M BTCs, not an equivalent to 1M$ in BTC -> 17.52 BTCs currently, which is probably your interpretation here, and which does have multiple existing cases.

Thanks for correcting me.
It was a bare recall for me, so I still expected a correction.
It is still nice addition though since it was something mentioned in the news, although it is a bit off. Smiley

There is some news that says that satoshi has one million BTC wallet. This is because satoshi is the person who created bitcoin, but we don't know the truth of the news. Even if it's true, I think that either Satoshi or anyone else who has a million BTC wallet will definitely keep their Bitcoin in some of his wallet.

I believe the Op wanted to just start up this form of argument about a wallet holding 1 million Bitcoin and we know that this king of information is really not hidden in the blockchain and could have been verified by him if he wanted to as others have gone to point out or he could just be referring to holding up to 1 million Bitcoin in a sting of wallet address in one wallet  Huh

I kind of recall someone transferring millions worth of BTC that was stuck on a wallet for quite some time.
It is being discussed back then on who could it be because of the insane amount.
Found it in here: https://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2020/11/someone-has-withdrawn-1-billion-from-a-bitcoin-wallet-dormant-since-2015/
Not sure if this is really the one that I recall, but there's something along the lines of "unknown trader".

You didn't pay attention to what's discussed here. The discussion is about 1 million BTC, not 1 million dollar.
So "your" less than 70000 BTC is far from the "target". Already the "rich lists" found on the internet post 34xp4vRoCGJym3xR7yCVPFHoCNxv4Twseo as having more than 200000 BTC on it, which is still far from 1 million.

Not everybody feel it necessary to brag about how many coins he has.
[...]
And an example I've seen lately is Coinbase, for which the cold wallet addresses are not easy to find out, but they had not long ago 994904BTC.
I suppose it's not even about bragging, but about security, because if there is at least one braggart among the bitcoin billionaires, then in the news we will see headlines in the spirit of "robbery of the century." Why steal art or rob banks when you can buy both with bitcoins ... I'm not surprised at all, but I want to add that Coinbase has about $ 300 billion in cold storage in cryptocurrency (only 2% of this amount is outside the cold storage).

Is it an assumption or what? you don't even put some link or source for this idea but this thing is possible as cryptocurrency is very anonymous and for sure those who are holding a huge amount of bitcoin. are just making it private, maybe Satoshi Nakamoto is the one who is holding the highest amount of bitcoin, this is quite possible as he is the one who made it.

If there are other people that have a million of bitcoin then we should've known about it.

Bitcoin's pseudo-anonymity allows entities hide their wealth if they want to. Not everybody feel it necessary to brag about how many coins he has.
And an example I've seen lately is Coinbase, for which the cold wallet addresses are not easy to find out, but they had not long ago 994904BTC.
I know that it's not the best example, since it's not their money, but it's an example that shows that this can be done rather easy.

The rumors say it is that of Satoshi which has kept for himself 1 million Bitcoins in different wallets. We will never come to know because we still don't even know if Satoshi is a person,a entity or a government.
That is right. We do not know who is the owner of that wallet and we do not even know if that is Satoshi. We can only see if that wallet has a large amount of bitcoin, but to search for the owner's owner, I guess that will not easy.

I never want to know who the wallet owner has a big amount of bitcoin because that is not important to me. Besides that, the owner will not reveal himself to the public, especially when the bitcoin price reaches $54k.

I do not believe there's a single wallet that holds 1 million btc. Like many already pointed out, the highest amount of btc a wallet has ever held is 143k btc. However, it is possible that one person holds even more than a million units of btc by storing them in multiple wallets.
You should also know that only person or people that could have that huge amount of btc would be either Satoshi himself or very adopters of bitcoin. As the current price of bitcoin, it's way to expensive to buy that huge amount of btc.

You are wrong and you have a lot to learn. A wallet can contain any number of addresses.
So it can happen that some entity has that many coins, even if it's not Satoshi. If you would have read a few more posts before posting, you'd already know this much.
If there are other people that have a million of bitcoin then we should've known about it. I know the part about the wallet but one wallet containing many addresses means that if the wallet is compromised then so is the addresses inside it.

And I am sure that if there are that many in one wallet, chances are that the one who has it is not new to the crypto world

It could possibly be owned by Satoshi because he's the creator of Bitcoin but since there isn't any proof, things like this could only be considered as an assumption and theory. We all know that to turn our assumptions into facts, we have to gather enough proof to prove our speculations because fake news is just around us so people would always look for evidence.

I don't think there is such a wallet and posters above confirm that there are no such wallets. What OP is claiming is some urban legend that you shouldn't worry about.

Even if there was such a wallet, it wouldn't be an active user. Nobody in their right mind would keep so much money on a single address. These would be split to a number of addresses and cold wallets for protection.
Plus satoshi has bitcoin all over the address used to received mining rewards back then and its been there for ages without any transfer, satoshi might have almost million btc but it doesn't stored in just single address nor even a hundred of address

If no one has used this wallet for a long time, there are only two options for what it can be. The first option: the wallet was created in ancient times when no one took bitcoin too seriously and bought a couple of pizzas for 10,000 thousand bitcoins. The second option is some person who has also been mining bitcoins for a long time and stopped at a round sum and forgot about them. There is also a third conspiracy theory that this is some kind of super investor who can bring down the market someday.

I think it could belong to Satoshi.  Grin  Because Satoshi has been HODLing from the start and will continue to do so as I know. We don't even know if Satoshi is alive though. But dead or alive, it will not prevent Satoshi from continuing to HODL.

I also came to the same conclusion there’s a good possibility that satoshi owns that many bitcoin but i doubt he’ll store it in a single address obviously for security purposes.
You don't have to "doubt". You can check a block explorer and see it by yourself that there's no address that holds that many bitcoins.

Also, is there and why to scan as many addresses as possible and getting the amount of btc those address have.
Bitcoin balance checker.

It’s highly unluckily that such an address with that many btc exists but it’s also a possibility.

I see that it got your attention since the total supply of bitcoins is only 10,000,000 so that wallet holds the 10% of the total supply.
The total supply is (just short of) 21 million. The current circulating supply is 18.66 million.

There's no source to this assumption and might this theory is true or just a rumor.  It might be Satoshi holds a Million of Bitcoins but not on a single wallet.
I wouldn't say there is "no source". There have been a number of analyses of early mining activity, which is where the figures of Satoshi owning 500,000 - 1 million BTC come from:

https://bitslog.com/2013/04/17/the-well-deserved-fortune-of-satoshi-nakamoto/
https://cryptowords.github.io/the-return-of-the-deniers-and-the-revenge-of-patoshi
https://blog.bitmex.com/satoshis-1-million-bitcoin/

Whether or not these are accurate is another discussion.

OP and some others replying are confusing these two concepts.
Not only that, but people also do not understand that "wallets" are completely fluid, and there is no requirement for a wallet to only include addresses generated from a single entropy source or seed phrase. We could simply import a bunch of private keys (if we knew them) in to the same wallet and create a wallet with over 1 million bitcoin without making a single transaction.

How can anyone aside the actual owner of the said wallet guess who is the person behind the coins? I believe you're asking rhetorical questions, BTW what happened to privacy policy involved in dealing with Bitcoin and cryptocurrency generally? Are you a government agency looking for how to nab someone behind the wallet? Take some few sits back and have a nice nap you're not making any sense with this.

I think no wallet will just store the funds in a single wallet for sure there will be spread out there to avoid getting problems with the transactions. If you are talking about worth a million I guess there is someone but if you are talking about exactly 1 M of BTC I guess the only have is Satoshi Nakamoto.

Better spread out the money and avoid stick into a single wallet

Its safe to assume that this is just a mere speculation. How could you say you'd learned it as we can checked the blockchain explorer for those top wallets holding tons of bitcoin doesn't have a wallet with million accumulation alone. That's gonna be a huge money and a person holding a million of BTC is gonna be a top position to either dump or pump it on market.
And if there really is a 1 million bitcoin wallet then the news outlets would be covering that story a long time ago. Not to mention that it isn't smart to put that amount of bitcoin in just one wallet, that is like giving away free money to someone who attacks you.

If there is one and that is ko other than Satoshi but he surely dispersed it through different wallet as precautions.
That's because there is a difference between "wallet" and "address" in bitcoin. We have no way of knowing how many wallets they are, how many addresses a certain wallet contains and how much bitcoin that wallet has in total. All we can see from the blockchain are addresses and their history (also their balance).
OP and some others replying are confusing these two concepts. Also there is an old guess that later on turned into FUD that Satoshi holds 1 million bitcoins which is what OP has heard.

Maybe Satoshi or other people who we do not know. But I do not care about who is the owner of that wallet and that is not important for me. I only care about making more and more bitcoin, and I am trying to do that for a long time ago in many ways. You do not have to think about who you and the owner should try to earn more bitcoin like other people do because when bitcoin price start to rally to the high price, and you have many bitcoins, that will give you to have a chance to make a big profit.

Why would you want to know who it might be? If there is really a single person that holds this huge amount of bitcoin then it is normal to not tell it to anyone. If he exposes it to the public, many hackers would attempt to steal his bitcoin in many ways. It could put not just his life in danger but also to those who are related to him. There are many reported cases on other countries that are related to this and they go to the extent that the thieves physically harass the victim just to give his bitcoin and the bitcoin they try to steal is not that big. Imagine if it's 1 million, trusting anyone would be difficult even if it is your relatives.

That is only an assumption cause he did not even put any link on his thread for the confirmation. If there would be a person who is holding one million BTC then I don't think that he will only use a one wallet address, for sure he will separate it to a different wallet address because storing such a huge amount of money for only one wallet address is such a very risky thing and no one have good knowledge to earn that huge amount of bitcoin would take a risk for that.

From where do you get to know such fake news because there is no such wallet which have 1 million Bitcoin attached with it.Its assumed that only Sathoshi have 1million Bitcoin with him but he would not be holding them in a single walllet for security purposes and to disclose his Indentity which he successfully managed to hide from past 12 years. The only address with highest btc is in Binance Cold wallet with more than 143k Bitcoins with them.

Top 100 Richest Bitcoin address

The FBI seized Bitcoins from Silk road were also auctioned to different bidders around 70,000 Bitcoins so not a single person holds such big amount other than the pseudonym Sathoshi Nakamoto as stated by blockchain explorer.

You need to get your facts straight, you are a newbie so we get it but it is important to look for this information by yourself, it is believed by some that satoshi does in fact posses 1 million bitcoins making him by far the biggest holder in the world.
There's no source to this assumption and might this theory is true or just a rumor.  It might be Satoshi holds a Million of Bitcoins but not on a single wallet.

The good thing about Bitcoin is you can hide your wealth without knowing others, who knows if there's a Bitcoin address hold that big amount but I doubt it was a long time ago or the pioneer of Bitcoin.

Forget about it who held a huge amount of Bitcoin in a single wallet, that's none of our business.  It's good if we accumulate our own and aim to store one million Bitcoin in just a single wallet and publicly reveal it.

However we know that there is not a single address with that huge amount as he used a new address for each transaction in order to retain some level of pseudonymity, so we have no way to know how many wallets he had and how much bitcoin is on each wallet, as of his identity that has been a mystery since he created bitcoin and most likely it is going to be one of the great mysteries of this century.

I've already thought that he might be describing satoshi as one person that has a million bitcoin but not being held in one wallet which was assumed long ago.

But if we're going to put satoshi into an exception, there really are people that have been rich because they hold a lot of bitcoin but not up to that point of owning millions of btcs.

What source you've learned that or probably have concluded?

The best we can do is educate ourselves to such a degree that someday we will hold the same amount of Altcoins that has somehow close to the price of bitcoins today.

Well, it is equally important to know that there are people with a satoshi and you do not know a priori who it is, in theory they should have the same privacy regardless of the size of their wallet, in the same way according to the owner of the wallet and their care about privacy They can lead you to leave traces but who cares (!?) and why do you want to know(!?), it is actually one of the intrinsic characteristics of bitcoin that you should better take care of.

In conclusion, you misheard or misinterpreted.

but what is real is the information about how many Bitcoins Shatoshi Nakamoto Has, and in theory, he has a little more than 1 Million.
Can you provide me a proof about that? Let me answer you:  There is no proof that Satoshi Nakamoto has/have any bitcoins.

There are just assumptions.

For a single wallet then it doesnt exist but for multiple ones? Possible that a certain person or single identity might really be owning it and just like what others been saying
which there's no really proof on that and with all of those studies and presumptions then theres no other that would be might close on owning such big number of coins
but the creator itself but again these are again some presumptions.

Limited in number. Limitless in potential.

No single wallet holds a million of bitcoins, but a person, held on different multiple wallets, and that's satoshi probably.

I recently learned that there is one wallet in the world with 1 million BTC attached.
That's an assumption, it's not confirmed. (And it'll never be)

I would say the assumption is wrong... The top reach bitcoin address is public information, and right now the address with more bitcoin is this one: 34xp4vRoCGJym3xR7yCVPFHoCNxv4Twseo with 143528.45848982 BTC

So, 1 million BTC wallet is what we call 'FakeNews' but what is real is the information about how many Bitcoins Shatoshi Nakamoto Has, and in theory, he has a little more than 1 Million.

There is no address which holds 1 million bitcoin - there isn't even one that comes close. The largest single address is Binance's cold wallet at around 143k BTC: https://bitinfocharts.com/top-100-richest-bitcoin-addresses.html. In terms of a "wallet" holding more than 1 million bitcoin - there is no way to confirm this unless the person who owns those 1 million bitcoin were to sign a message from every address which stores all those bitcoin confirming as such. And even then, all those addresses are unlikely to be part of the same wallet since storing all 1 million of your bitcoin in a single wallet would be a monumentally stupid thing to do.

There is a possibility that Satoshi owns this many coins, although it based on blockchain research and some educated guesses, and is not known for sure.

Privacy mate, that's also what bitcoin and cryptocurrency gives so many people, it's pointless racking brains about other peoples wealth or who owns a particular bitcoin wallet if the wallet is not in the books for any crime or in association with one. -in between it may be a group owned wallet and not a single person- .
People will still pry no matter what privacy measures they take and even the impossibility of knowing will not stop these people because that is just human behavior. There is only one person that is guaranteed to have a 1 million bitcoin which is Satoshi Nakamoto. But if it isn't Satoshi then that is a pretty dumb way to store your bitcoin considering that it will be over in just one attack which isn't likely going to happen but possibilities are still possibilities.
