success at last!

so after sending the payment for speedy btc acceleration, i had to wait about a day for the btc payment to confirm. although it was sent with 222 sat/b! after the payment had gone to them they sent a payment confirmation email. then i had to wait for my transaction to join a block. i was doubtful at this point that anything would happen and that id be back to square one.

however this morning at 07:55gmt the transaction joined a block and has now been confirmed along with the other transaction. now wether this was the help of speedy btc or just a regular confirmation I'm not sure. either way I'm pleased the problem is sorted now!

thanks for all responses and advice given, and i have now installed an electrum wallet

I would definitely be interested to see if using BTCSpeedy does anything other than cost you money. I've looked at various reports and most seem to be that BTCSpeedy does nothing (ie. it is effectively a scam).

As far as I can tell, they don't actually have their own mining pool like ViaBTC, so they are "co-operating with main Bitcoin pools"... But then they say:

Quote
Regarding that BTCSPEEDY.com Pool is using FPPS mining mode and those accelerated transactions are with low fees, BTCSPEEDY.com pool will subsidize miners to ensure that their earnings are not compromised

But I can't find any record anywhere of there being a BTCSPEEDY.com pool... or it ever mining a block... so I'm kinda leaning towards this being a scam. Undecided

Hi HCP, thanks for the detailed and informative response.

I've always used my multibit classic wallet for most transactions over the last 4 years and have never had to adjust the amount of fees paid. I just left it on the default 0.0001 btc/kb and its annoying that this now outdated wallet has caused such an issue for me! I will take your note on downloading that more current wallet for future transactions.

I understand what you've said about the second transaction not being a double spend but I've done similar 'double spends' like this before and its come through for me so thought it would work out. Both the transactions are still unconfirmed, but the original 0.022 transaction now appears in my balance (although not spendable balance) in my multibit classic wallet.

When i said that id sent the second transaction with more than double the fee, i was reading from my multibit classic wallet which says the first transaction fee was worth 0.22 usd and the second at 0.56 usd (at todays prices).

Ive since tried reseting the blockchain again to no avail and have now just attempted the btc speedy acceleration service. Hopefully this will sort this mess out and i can learn from my mistakes! I will post with any further news on how it goes.

Thanks again for your help

made a transaction 11/5/17 for 0.022btc which didn't confirm, then did a double spend a few dates later with more than double the original fee and yet still no confirmations. both been seen by lots of peers. then using my multibit classic wallet on 18/5/17, i reset blockchain and transactions as this has fixed it before.
I hate to be the bearer of bad news... but your 2nd transaction is not a "double spend"... as it doesn't try to use the same input as the first transaction... nor is it a "child pays for parent" (CPFP)... as it doesn't try to spend an output from the first transaction.

It is just a another transaction... you're effectively just sending to 0.037 btc to 1B4Vu69fxT5sznJaFDtLXoQJkD7mtzVw8B over two transactions.  Undecided

Also, your assertion that you used "more than double the original fee" is flawed... as your 2nd transaction is about 1.66x the data size of the first... 374 (bytes) vs. 226 (bytes)... Fees are actually calculated on a "satoshis per byte" basis, so your actual fees paid are 66.845 sat/B for the 2nd... and 44.248 sat/B for the first... neither of which is even vaguely close to the current recommended fees (has been 200+ sat/B for over a week now)

MultiBit Classic is outdated and unsupported. You should switch to a more current wallet that utilises dynamic fees (eg. Electrum) to prevent this from happening again.

Can you share your txid so that we know what are the reason of your transaction not still confirm..
you may also try to send it here
http://viabtc.com/tools/txaccelerator/ so that you can accelerate your transaction if your fee is ok..

the viabtc accelerator is always full
Currently, you can only wait, and the next time use more fees! It is important to choose where to broadcast the transaction!

Try to have a good timing when using it. In the past I have had success using it in the first minutes of every hour.

i know this is asked 24/7 on here but here i am asking it anyway. yes i have read the above guides for help!

been an avid user of btc for 4 years now and I've had some transactions get 'stuck' before, but they were easily fixed after a day or two.

made a transaction 11/5/17 for 0.022btc which didn't confirm, then did a double spend a few dates later with more than double the original fee and yet still no confirmations. both been seen by lots of peers. then using my multibit classic wallet on 18/5/17, i reset blockchain and transactions as this has fixed it before.

but to no avail this time....... help?!

ive looked into these accelerators but viabtc is always 'full' and the others seem abit pricey
