I can't believe people are comparing dapps with apps like telegram and whatsapp. Like are you guys serious ?
One of them is traditional and been around for a while and got acquired and funded and many other stuff that allowed them to be filthy rich and continue what they do whereas dapps are barely surviving with the system we have in put right now.

When it was at its peak cryptokitties literally slowed ethereums transactions down for a while before there was a fix and right now we assume 100k transactions a day is bad. It is actually quite good, we are just in a bad market and unfortunately dapps are always crypto related and crypto limited, whatsapp is good to go when there is a mobile phone but dapps are only valid if you have crypto currency in your wallet. It will never be the same user numbers.

It is because most of them are useless vaporware and even if there are a couple of usable ones, it will make ETH blockchain useless again. We already seen what happened to ETH when too many people used cryptokitties last year. ETH devs were literally begging to people to not use it and that wasn't even a useful dapp that was a retarded game.
Exactly this. Only a minority of the DApps out there have a real use case and the community to be used, too. The vast majority is simply useless or didnt manage to gain attraction of the community. I always compare it to the current startup hype. Only a few are able to survive the first 3 years, the same applies to crypto projects in my opinion.

can you give us a couple of examples of these minority tokens that are being used in the real world?
because so far in the past couple of years that ethereum has been around and the DApps have been created i have not yet seen a single one that had any usage apart from trading.

The question is, how many people within the community is interested in using Dapps? Dapps developers should focus on attracting and onboarding users who are not familiar with cryptocurrencies but could be interested in using their Dapps.

Dapps are not as used as we want because they are really really slow and also transaction fees are too high. Dapps need Ethereum 2.0 to become used in everyday life.

All I know is that I know nothing.
having a transaction doesn't  mean they are being used. it just shows that these tokens are still being traded and that is where some bounty hunter or some bag holder dumping their token or some other bag holder picking up what they dumped.

usage means when there is actually usage and that transactions that occur from user's wallets to anywhere but exchanges. all these transactions you see here are either from exchanges or to exchanges. and that is not "usage".

Do you think people gonna solve science problems on the ETH network? No. They will be using it for gambling and gaming and ETH will go down to toilet just like that. There isn't a single blockchain technology which can handle the spam coming from gambling and gaming. I don't say gaming/gambling is bad, it is just, blockchain can't handle this kind of load.

Then another question comes to mind, If ETH can't handle these dapps, then why the fuck they exist? Bitcoin knew that would happen, that's why they didn't enable it in the first place.

13% of the Dapps achieving 100,000 transactions per day is a lot if you ask me. How authentic are these figures and research?
If some Dapps could achieve this number of transactions per day then it means there are reasonable activities on these Blockchains. Meaning they are anything but useless.

We are all the pieces of what we remember.
Currently dapps are at the very beginning. It's just the experiment. Perhaps in a few years when corporations will understand and accept the real power of dapps the real boom will happen. There are too bad adoption and community doesn't use dapps right now as well, but it will be changed with the next surge of the market.

It seems to me that for ethereum and applications based on it, everything is just beginning. It is not worthwhile to carry out too deep an analysis of how this area is developing, because now we are still in the very initial phase of our development. In a few years everything will change drastically.

https://www.longhash.com/news/ten-percent-of-ethereum-dapps-are-used-on-any-given-day

"We analyzed the last 100 Ethereum DApps out of the aforementioned 180 to see the breakdown of transaction frequency, and found that only 13% of those DApps had more than 100,000 transactions per day, with a maximum number of around 200,000."

"It is worth noting here that only eight of the top 50 most popular DApps run on Ethereum, based on transaction volume. But even if we take DICE (a DApp on EOS) with around 450,000 transactions per day and compare this to the same numbers, the usage still appears virtually invisible when compared to Internet apps like Telegram or Whatsapp.   "
