If you read the ad carefully, it's only 10% off for US customers. How about rest of the world? So much for Bitcoin Black Friday.  Embarrassed

We can't make this stuff up.
If you really read the ad carefully, you would have noticed this:

Not in the US?  Don’t worry, you can still use Name Your Discount to save 20-30% off Amazon, just by copying and pasting your wish list.
(EU people can at least use Amazon.co.uk)

I wouldn't take the 10% anyway, I would just wait 2 days for a 20% discount to fill and they ALWAYS do.

I didn't realize that Purse.io could be used in Europe too. Just made my account to check it out. 20% discounts get filled? That sounds great!

Yeah but in Germany the authorities were able to pressure Purse to withdraw from the country.

My strong suggestion is to compare the price of your local Amazon (if there is one) with Amazon.co.uk (after the discount).
If it is close, buy it locally.

The best plan perhaps is to just buy things your regularly need off Purse.io. Every month buy a little BTC to cover that cost. The discounts add up.

" Black Friday is popular as a shopping day for a combination of reasons. As the first day after the last major holiday before Christmas, it marks the unofficial beginning of the

Christmas shopping season. Additionally, many employers give their employees the day off as part of the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. " Source : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Friday_%28shopping%29

Retailers traditionally operated at a financial loss ("in the red") from January through November, and "Black Friday" indicates the point at which retailers begin to turn a profit, or

being "in the black".  Roll Eyes

They should change this to a global event, like Valentine's Day for all nations to benefit from this. The excitement and the free for all shopping spree have seen phenomenal sales

figures for retailers in a single day.  Shocked .... Bitcoin adoption could benefit from this, if they give extra discounts for Bitcoin users and people start buying bitcoins to get these

discounts.

Crap, I do need a new TV but I must be on Amazon.com to use this. I thought that French Amazon is supported but it's not. This would be a nice 10% discount for me. Oh well..
Isnt french amazon accepted at purse.io too?

That's the ultimate dream for mainstream adoption, Amazon is the biggest online marketplace in the world. If they start accepting bitcoin we're in Smiley

It would be convenient for those who already hold but nothing more. I think the empirical evidence points towards merchant acceptance being a bit of a non event. There's still no reason why anyone would choose BTC over their regular cards.

Would much prefer Amazon to accept Bitcoin payments directly, then your holdings would likely net you more than a 10% saving Wink

I am afraid that the bitcoin supply is not much enough and block size is not enough if amazon start using bitcoin as payment method because of millions of users at the same time ordering. About purse seems good if people live in u.s

It's probably because Thursday is the day Americans celebrate Thanksgiving and not the rest of the world. Thus black friday sales only apply to them I guess, which sucks for the rest of us. So much for wanting to spend my bitcoins this holiday season.

Well in my country we don't celebrate Thanksgiving so I am sad about that the Black Friday deal of course.

Oh well if it say only for US customers than is no point to purchase something then.

You do realize that the actual Bitcoin Black Friday is not even related to Amazon? There are a lot of merchants lining up and we can start buying things up soon. Here's the actual website.

Thanks for the link
I didn't realize it is the 4th already? completely missed the previous ones.

Anyone remembers if they had any good deals going on last year?
Or what kind of stuff was on sale?

I am a little disappointed. After reading the title of this thread I thought that Amazon introduced Bitcoin as one of their payment method, which, even for a day it would be extremaly huge deal.
Instead it is Purse.io deal. and it is not that different from their usual offers.

This was exactly my feeling about this.. But anyway, a 10% reduction is still quite nice to have if you live in the US.

Too bad it doesn't work for people in Europe.. Would've been nice, although we don't really know black friday Wink

black friday is the next day after thanksgiving day, everyone think that the price will increase because for whatever reason people should buy bitcoin first for their purchase

how naive, average joe don't give a damn about bitcoin, this will not change much
