Below you'll find a list of essentials stuff I find missing, when I check Bitcoin related sites, which are submitted to
Top Bitcoin Sites.
Note that none of these tips are shocking or eye-openers, but a lot of sites still have these basics missing.
So make sure you have at least the following as complete as possible, before you announce your site/service...also here on BitcoinTalk
:
1 Get a 'unique' logo/favicon:
A lot of us (including Top Bitcoin Sites) have (a variation of) the official Bitcoin logo as our logo ...which is not distinct/unique enough. But do have at least a logo/favicon, which identifies your sites/service.
And have this logo ready in different sizes and shapes...just in case!
2 Get a tagline/quote/subtitle:
A sentence which describes/covers your site/service: make sure your service is clear in just one sentence at a glance. Also important at the search results!
3 Get a consistent look-and-feel:
Choose your style, colorcombo and your own 'look'. Use existing themes and templates, open sources CMS if you don't know how to do it yourself.
4 Get a twitter/FB account: Although not as applicable for the Bitcoin community as any other community, do reserve these accounts at least. You may get (more) mainstream and you don't want these accounts been taken!
5 Get a footer: contact/helps/about/info/advertise
If your legit, then you should be at least available via email/contact form. Show your visitors that you're there in case of things going bad.
6 Get content:
Although a lot of services will do just fine with a modern single-page website, some of these services and sites need more additional content. Not all of your (new to Bitcoin/altcoin) visitors will understand your service fully.
7 Get real:
Don't claim to be the biggest/best in what you do (yet). Start ambitious, but be humble.
8 Get started:
I've seen sites/services, which are announced and are ready for the audience...but the site is far from complete. And one can just assume the service will be as incomplete as well!
9 Get ready
You're fired up and ready to go? Then be ready! I've seen submitted sites with Apache messages on the homepage, under construction pages and hello world posts...while they're assuming being live and already seeking exposure!
10 Get a good domain
Yes, it's getting harder by the minute to get a great (Bitcoin) related domain. Well, get creative or buy a good-sounding domain here at this forum.
Hope this will help newbies with their sites and services to get
FREE the exposure they need and deserve.
