yeah my vegas are undervolted and use about 175w each. all my psus are gold or platinum.

I just added a  antec EDG750 - running one vega and 1070 off it. two psus combined is 900w.

Thanks guys

Best practice is mining at 50%~60% max PSU power. That gives you the best power efficiency. PSUs have 10 year warranty. They don't depreciate.

Or buy 80+ gold or titanium so you don't have to worry about them as much, they're designed to run constant at at least 80%. I have a gold 1050W that runs at around 850W constantly and barely even runs warm.

Yeah, never stint on PSUs.

Also it pays to be suspicious of power requirements - I must have spent days trying to get one rig to boot with 6 cards. Couldn't do it, but should have been fine by the numbers (which I believed), so kept on trying.

Then added another spare £50 psu just as a test, and boom, no trouble at all.

I recommend you to add one more 1000w or 1200 power supply.
Don't squeeze all the juice from our PSU its bad thing to do.

Power consumption calculation for 2 Nvidia cards:
2x Gtx 1070 150w 12.5A * 2 = 300W  25A

Power consumption calculation for 2 Ati cards:
2x Vega Power limit 23% 250w 20.8A * 2 =  500W 40.16A

sum: 300w 25A + 500w 40.16A = 800w  65.16A

You can downvolt the cards more but it depends on your skill set.

molex / sata for raisers

when i was using both psu for one rig at wall power with 4x vega and 1070 was 850w.

I guess that was close to comfort so I bought antec psu today Smiley

Only use splitters if you know exactly what you're doing.

What he/she said. Are you using the 6+2 pins for the risers? Use SATA converters for those, you can even double them up if needed, but don't skimp on the cards themselves. Or pick up a cheap 400W psu for those two cards, they're not very expensive.

Also: the 1070 will draw more than 100W, up to 150W actually. You can keep it low by underclocking or mining a cryptonight coin.

Just buy 6 or 8pin Y splitters that split into 6+2 pins.  You can safely split a PCIe cable to power two risers or both plugs on one Vega.  I'm assuming you are using two pcie cables per Vega which you don't need to do.

Power supply experts... help!!!

I have two of these at the moment

System 1
Vega 56 x3
Using 625w at the walll

System 2
Vega 56 x3
Using 625w at the walll

I have a two spare 1070 which I want to add to each system and they use about 100w. Power wise I think it should be okay but connector wise I'm short.

I've used all the VGA. I have the CPU2 and quite a few Sata available. Which would be the safest to get to 8pin converter for or would you advise against doing this and get another power supply power supply per system?

I do plan to add another power supply per system and a few more vegas but that will be in a few months to come.

Thanks!~
