Before i start buying parts, wanted to see if anyone has done this and how they've gotten on?

Purely a budget/hobby/1st rig project. Im fully aware im not gonna be pulling in £20/day with it.

Aiming for:

Z270 mobo - 3 cards in x16 and 3 on risers (trio rig style)
Celeron cpu
4gb
nvOC running from USB stick
1 750w or 850w PSU could be fine for 6 75w 1050Ti cards?

I will be aiming to mine 100% Equihash coins.

Dude, you have a normal choice of motherboard, power supply and so on.
Start better with 1060 or 1070 and gradually as you will be able to connect more video cards just add them.
That is,1050 ti too weak cards to build on them a large system.

Nope, spend that amount of money with several 1060s or an 1070 instead, a lot better performance.

That is right. The 1050 is too low and not future proof.

The 1050 Ti will not return much but it's easy to set up and stays very cool. I advice you to go for 850W PSU and also think about the 1060. You can only buy 3-4 first and extend to 6 later on. If you fill the rig with 1050 Ti and you want to add a card later on you will need to sell some of the cards probably with a small lose.

I´d not buy the 1050ti, as you said they will not earn much. Better start with fewer but more powerful cards and add more later. Look for AMD 570 or Nvidia 1060/1070.

If you go with 1050ti choose a modell with external 6pin connector, otherwise all the power runs over your riser-cable.

I would put all the Gpu´s on a riser, better cooling.

750w is enough for the 1050ti´s.
