Well, I managed to trip the breaker with only one rig running, and one laptop.

Plan on hiring an electrician to come in and add another breaker and outlets.  I don't plan on running more than 18 cards, so what should I shoot for in terms of breaker size?

If you want more power I suggest looking into PDU's

I will be using this one soon.

Keep in mind my hooking this up to a 20a 240v circuit.

PHENOMENAL POWER STRIPS!!!

Got 2 of these guys, pulling 1kw through each no problem at all. no heat no loose parts. built tough.

Like the others said, that 2nd rig will put you at your limit for one breaker. just run those guys at a lower TDP and you'll be fine.

Grab this as well so you can ensure your safe.

20 amps x 120 volts = 2400 watts. You can only load up to 80% of the stated rating, so a 20 amp circuit at 120 volts (80%) will handle 1920 watts.

It depends if you are running on 120V or 240V. A breaker is rated for a maximum 80% of the capacity for a continous load.

120 V x 20 A = 2400 W

2400 W x .8 = 1920 W maximum continous load.

Current setup:
Rig 1 has six 1080ti cards, two 1,000w power supplies that are connected to two different wall plates.
A second identical rig will be completed this week.

All of the outlets in my mining room are connected to a 20amp breaker.  Typically, how many watts can safely be pulled through one breaker.

safely 16A or roughly 8-10 cards at 75% TDP if you're on 110v

are they on same breaker? If yes, you're pretty much at your limit.
