Thanks Hal for the information.

So, what about the Manifesto?
As Gabi have mentioned, 25 years ago, those guys predicted the course we are on right now (apparently).
Is there any factual link betwen bitcoin and this prediction, or only the idea?

I actually had an account with MTB back in the day. They partnered with David Chaum, guru of techno-privacy. Chaum had a place with Cypherpunks roughly analogous to Satoshi's around here, except he didn't have the grace to disappear mysteriously, and he very definitely had feet of clay.

Anyway, MTB offered accounts using Chaum's blinding technology, so the bank couldn't see whom you were paying, as long as it was another account holder. I don't think this would fly today, but that was before KYC etc. The experiment never really got off the ground, and it was terminated shortly after.

The OP has a piece of blinded ecash suitable for transfer to another MTB account holder, at least if you had a time machine and could go back to the 90's. They were all powers of two, hence the 128 cents.

128 cents to a dollar sounds even more annoying than the endless confusion about whether megabytes are 1000000 bytes or 1048576 bytes.

I have stumbled upon this today:

Here is a 128-cent digital coin minted by the Mark Twain Bank of Saint Louis, Missouri, USA:
-----BEGIN ECASH PAYMENT-----

-----END ECASH PAYMENT-----

If you're the first one to deposit it, you'll be 1.28 dollars (US) richer when you do.

What is this about?

Also, the end of the text points to The Crypto Anarchist Manifesto by Timothy C. May, first read out on "Crypto '88" conference.

Some people may go a bit overboard about this stuff. Timothy C. May's Crypto Anarchist Manifesto describes a future where an anonymous, untraceable economy challenges governments' ability to tax, or even exist. Short of that, maybe you just don't think your bank or credit card company needs to compile a history of your every purchase--at least not without kicking back some of the money they make by selling it. This is where real digital cash differs from other network payment systems like Veriphone's ``CyberCash.''

What do you guys think about this digital coin and the Manifesto?
How this relates to Bitcoin?
