The Nigerian government have set aside the whooping sum of #14 billion in naira for the rehabilitation of the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja prior the inauguration of the new president Bola Ahmed Tinubu, while considering the huge amount of money for just refurnishing of the Aso Rock and we have many Nigerians suffering in hunger and poverty, youth having no employment opportunity and yet the government is claiming being in debt from foreign nations in strive to build a better Nigeria.

Is this a good take for the citizens to accept while many lives were in penury due to unaffordability of
daily and basic primary needs of food, cloth and shelter and the government is using 14 billion naira to refurnish the presidential house.

Chai, na their last siphoning of the national treasurer be this. Make them use the opportunity to pack their last money cos once they leave the office no more for them.

Seriously, PDP government the learn work for where APC government dey. I remember back then when PDP government d rule Nigeria, na hundreds of millions wey dem allocate each time d wan allocate projects for Aso Rock or any minor projects but this time around(APC government) no fit do any project whether big or small without mentioning billions of naira.

Every country is fighting poverty and hunger, but that doesn't stop them from embarking on necessary projects, 14 billion is a drop in the ocean, it would not solve Nigeria's debt, the problem with Nigerians living in Nigeria is that you guys complain too much, the amount might look out of the hook, but considering the cost of building materials and furnishing, 14 billion is not far from it, if only you guys have any idea how big this ASO rock is, we're talking about the Presidential Villa, the most valuable and one of the most expensive in the country, so let's stop pretending that rehabilitation doesn't happen every time a new President is sworn in. The average land price in Abuja and Lagos Island is between 2 and 5 billion Naira, and everything is fucking expensive.

I understand that the current government has abused a lot of funds in the past, making it difficult to trust them at this point, but we should sometimes try to understand some decisions without being sentimental. The renovation includes all of the required security measures.
Well said boss man, I saw this thread since but I have been cautious to give my replies as I don't want to be abstract of everyone's opinion on this matter and I really don't want any one to hold grudges as you we Nigerians can be really sentimental about some issues. Let's look at clear and open facts about this matter, I mean c'mon it is the ASO ROCK  for God sake and we all are aware of changes that seasonally take place when their is change of governance and it happens in almost all levels of government. For example the change of my state government saw the renewal of almost all the equipment and building if not all in the government house when the new governor wanted to resume office and it cost them billions of naira and this one we talking about is refurnishing of the presidential villa you must imagine the cost materials used in that building so the above mention is worth what its been used for and no need to get all dramaticall about the amount..
It's expected that when a new government wants to enter office, everything will put in place entirely with new settings. But let's come to actual realization of what a whopping sum of 14billion can do for painting and furniture only.

What am trying to say be say, this our government no d try. How can they be calling billions of naira like sae before they do better thing or get thing delivered em go enter billions before they accomplish am. Things the costly for the country no be enough to d quote wetin no d good for money.

Nigeria government needs to learn how to cut their spending whenever they want commission or carry out any given project. This country na for all of us. No for a particular people to siphoning money like sae tomorrow no d. We Nigerians are not meant to be supporting this kind of extravagant spending just because sae a new government wan enter office. Let's picture what 14billion fit do for the country

One thing we don't know is if the government are taking some steps and decision to their own favour or the best interest of the people, this keeps me thinking about what will happen to fellow citizens after their tenure in office if the whole things went as unexpected before they leave, PMB to enroll in for another $800,000,000 from the world bank amidst his attempts on handing over, as he instruct the senates. https://twitter.com/SaharaReporters/status/1656341118336761865?t=VdoooIMm9nN4AGm1E8FYVA&s=19 now they are on it again taking loan while they are spending lavishly on the things that doesn't really matters.

Although the amount spent on the Aso Rock is enormous, I was initially speechless when I saw it. I believe maintenance is also a very good culture to uphold, especially the presidential residence, but the annoying thing is that the Nigerian government has a lot of misplaced priorities and focuses on things that are not necessary. the issue of unemployment has become a global problem just that Nigeria has a high rate of unemployment the best thing now is for the youths to make themselves useful by either starting a small business or learning a skill. waiting for the government will only hurt you and waste your time the only thing the government is good at is making empty promises.

This is totally uncalled for and we are being robbed off the daylight in us. But if we complain, who will hear our cry. This is what happens every time there’s transition of government and it’s not peculiar to the Aso Rock only, it also happens in all the 36 states of the federation too. After the refurnishing, they’ll still be monthly or annual allowance for maintenance of those places again. We just have to face the reality that they’re ripping us and we can’t just continue like this, we hope for a change soon.
What if I told you that 10billion naira was claimed to be used to build the fence of a government house in Nigeria😕

Thanks my man, and this is one of the best comments I have read from you in a long while, because you took the time to point out the critical problems that ordinary Nigerians have, because of the poverty level, the sense of judgement has been being clouded and any time the hear government expenditures Nigerians will quickly ascribe it to corruption and embezzlement of public funds.

Indeed 14 billion naira is not too much for the renovation of Aso Rock unless you don't have a mental picture of what the structures in the villa are, because anyone familiar with what is at stake in the Asio villa, will know that any renovation work will cost amounts running into billions of naira.

So I don't see any reason why we should complain about an amount that can not solve any national issues, most especially now that the inflation rate os extremely high and the cost of building materials has gone over the roof.

I no go lie, 14 billion naira na really huge sum of money oh wey dey wan waste just like that all in the name of renovating Aso Rock for the inauguration of the new president elect Ahmed Bola Tinubu. Because this is not the first time them dey use huge huge money each year all in the name of buying new furniture for that Aso Rock, way I dey very sure say those old furniture nothing don do them oh, because only if they fit just share this money give #1.2 to 1.5 millions naira to over 10000 youths to use start up small businesses, eh for really go a long way far better than wasting it on a single day event.

2020 Budget: Buhari To Repair Aso Rock Buildings With N4.5 Billion

2021 Budget: Buhari to Refurbish Aso Villa with ₦11 Billion

2022 Budget: Again, Buhari Proposes N5.23bn To Renovate Aso Rock Villa

Because this current amount for renovation of Aso Rock happens to be the most expensive amount to have been used for the last 3 to 5 years as you can see the values listed above, which is very painful for a country that people are suffering in hardship such as this.

I think say OP go bring the records of how much other administrations don use do renovation during that time, I go like to see the record holder.

Things like this suppose go through panel before them approve abi how e dey work?

E be true say government wey dey spend plenty money on renovation of presidential villa dey show say dem no care about people wey dey suffer for poverty and no get job for Nigeria. Government suppose prioritize tins like food, shelter, infrastructure, healthcare, education, and job creation wey go benefit citizens wella. But e fit be say the money dem allocate for villa renovation fit dey for national budget sake of security, history, or maintenance reasons. Even still, government suppose make sure say dem dey accountable and responsive to people wey dem dey govern, and make sure say dem use resources to build the nation and help people.
But e no get as e wan take be, the money we dem allocate too choke and e sure me die say na one of the means to embezzle funds. But watyn street men like us fit do?
Na to continue our hustle de pray for our daily bread. #ONGOD

I was shocked when I heard the news on radio station this morning, to use 4 billions for the rehabilitation of presidential villa for the new elected president Bola Ahmed Tinubu to have a comfortable environment. But dis amount of money is too much for government that mean well for their citizens because, people are going through a lot of challenges in the country which 2 billions can even do something that will create job opportunities for people to reduce suffering in the land. Well, is no longer a new thing to me because many presidents has did it which this new elected president Bola Ahmed Tinubu will like to do the same thing too when he is preparing to hand over power, but I still believe in Nigeria that one day those things will stop 4 us to be proud of our country Nigeria.
