The run-up to the 2011 crash saw a 3,800% increase in just 58 days. A correction was inevitable.

Price of a bottle of water before public water supply contamination event: 99 cents

Price of a bottle of water after one: $10

It's a 1000% increase!  Must be a bubble!  Sell your bottled water before it all crashes!

(It's sort of like Bitcoin, with one minor difference:  They'll fix the public water supply soon enough, but the broken financial system that's making Bitcoin look good isn't going to be fixed any time soon.)

Love the analogy haha  Grin

Still doing percent increase wrong? $0.30 -> $4.72 = 1473%, not 1573%. $4.72 -> $13.50 = 186%. Not going to take your market predictions to heart, no offense.

Ahh, yep. I just divided then moved the decimal not taking into account the original value. The ratio is the same for the $212 estimate though.

And BTC... popular? I just asked my VPS provider to either re-price my monthly dues at current market value of BTC (it's a $5/mo VPS now invoicing me for $14/mo in BTC), or let me pay with Paypal. I'm actually annoyed with BTC. Go figure.

My hosting service adjusts the cost in BTC based on the dollar cost. Check out Bitronic.

I pay $66/month for a dedicated server. Last month that was 1.4 BTC, this month it will be less than 1 BTC.

The question is not if we will reach the 2011 increase, but when.

And the answer is probably this month.

Bitcoin increased 1573% in one year!

$.30 to $4.72....in 2011 (1573%)

$4.72 to $13.50...in 2012 (286%)

So far in 2013:
$13.50 to $130 (963%)

For a 1573% jump for the year the price would need to reach:
$212.35

We are only slightly ahead of our 2011 pace.

Then again, Bitcoin is becoming much more popular and the world is a lot less stable.

We'll be there next week.

The bitcoin economy is more developed. The support infrastructure is better than it was in 2011 even if it is struggling to keep up with the load. There are a lot more you can do with bitcoins now.

add a measurement of how much more uses bitcoin has now. then plot that as a ratio and see how undervalued we are.

1 stock of the DJIA is $14,000...

1 bitcoin can easily get there in a year or two
