Which brand of card is this? what clock settings are you using?
it's allright
i got 8 7950 radeon vapor x on 2 MB.
I use the overclock button and get 550 now (switch over 64bit and add loads of ram 16/MB).
I'm sure by tweaking a bit i can get more but for now i'm happy.

I'm pretty sure that my windows 7 was 32bit before and recognized 7.2 or something gig of ram but this was not enough for  4x7950

+1 for this entertaining thread.  Perhaps it should be in comedic relief vs newbies?

YGOLD is a Defi platform
If you know what you're talking about, or just Google PAE, here's the first page:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Physical_Address_Extension
If you cared to read your own link you'd see that 32-bit versions of XP, Vista and 7 are limited to 4GB despite PAE.

Seriously! I may sound harsh but why are we even allowing these threads outside of 'newbie'? You don't know that x86 Windows can't address more than 3.8 GB of ram, and you are asking cryptocoin mining questions. Seriously. ALL of this could be answered better with a single Google search.

Well if you don't know what's wrong to begin with then google won't help at all. It's also not just x86 windows. It's any 32bit operating system.

Three letters. PAE. 32 bit OSs are NOT limited to 4GB of RAM... God, people.

If you care to Google that look at the first page which is wikipedia and look at almost all the 32 bit are limited to 4GB.

You need a 64 bit OS if you have more than 4GB of RAM.

May i ask you if know why there is this limitation on x86 os? looks strange to my (little) of the computer world...

There's a lot of reasons but 32bit is only enough to address 4Gb of memory. It works out in the conversion factor but it's kinda difficult to explain. 64bit have a total of about 190ish GB if I remember correctly. And the memory capacity is accross your ram and GPUs. So not only are you overloaded on your RAM, but the system can't see the GPUs memory either. Switch up to 64bit and suddenly you'll lose a giant bottleneck.

2^32 = 4294967296

hence 4gb of ram - x86 = 32 bit

i switch over ubuntu 64b. Didn't change anything because i still need to buy some ram.
i'm pulling 515kh out of my 7950s so i'm not sure it worst the effort to buy some extra ram in the system...
i'll do it when i add some extra cards

Hello, i am actually running 3x 7950 at 515kh/s each (litecoin ofc)
I use I-19 and thread-concurrency 15000 (more or less).

I can't go higher in thread-concurrency otherwise i get a gpu failure. So this is because  i only have 8 gig or ram on my windows 7 32b right ?

Then if i want to put more ram i need windows 7  64b. But can i do it with linux too or is linux 32/64 also limited?

P.S. i already did the setx command.
