well  identification of  users in  the  bitcoin  chain  is  possible .  with  the  proper  analysis  of the   addresses  and  the   transaction  history,  and  should   remain  to  that only . however in terms of  identification of  users  in the  sights for a  government  data  base,  is  some thing history has  far to  often shows  how  violent it  can  be .  Hitler  created  a  data base  look  what it  did.

Crypto  currency  was  a  theory  by  which two  entity can  securely  transfer  funds to  each other  without  the processing   entity  not  knowing  the  identity of  each  other. some thing like  the Yao's Millionaires' problem,(not   exactly but  similar).

If  i  want to  be  identified  i'll just  use  pay pal.  crypto  currency,   addresses a  specific   problem  of  value  transfer  without  others  knowing   what is   being  transferred.  any  sort  of  identification is   not  some thing  good  for  the   ideas  this  was  formed  upon.

dont  know what to  say. disappointed.  I think  your "Doctor " need a  bit  of  a history lesson on  the  Crypto  currency and not  virtual  currency. the  reasons  for the  existence  of   crypto  currency  and   the  reasons  what   the  crypto  currency  needs  miners to  verify   transactions.  Looks like the identifying  owners part is  what ticked  me  off.

but  then  again  the press has a  way of  twisting  peoples  words.  so  i  will  give  the benefit  of  the  doubt  on that  .

She mailed back with an apology for the mistakes.

Well, another bunch of people now know what Bitcoin is, so am OK with the end outcome.

Nilam was talking about a project from the foundation called 'Bitcoin Identified'. I will post a link to the paper that he had written for it.

Bitcoin is way ahead of its time for mainstream media in India.
