i like that you say all this.. cuz i just purchased 5 asus r9 280x's for $330 each and 2 seasonic 1250xm psu's. sounds like you know your stuff and it sounds like i made the right moves =-D

r9 280x = 270W * 5 = 1350w  + 200 for the other stuff = 1550 and you buy 2*1250 ? + 950 watts ?

Thx all for rep  Wink

Late summer is far away. How many coins can you mine and how much will they be worth? With a 10Mh rig I mined about 1 million EAC in 1 day (at launch). How much do you think those coins will be worth by summer? $.10 each? maybe. Maybe they will be worth nothing. Are you willing to take a risk? Maybe you can buy another 100Mh by summer. Maybe asics come out by summer. who knows .. maybe coins will be worth 100x more or 100x less. who knows. nobody...

Waiting will get you nowhere.

You get a point, I'm thinking about mining in pool that is mining altcoin and day by day transfer it to the bitcoin/litecoin.

Hello,

If you want to mine only Scrypt coins,  since you don't need 4 PCI-E 16x ports and you can mine effectively with a PCI 1x port with PCI risers and also CPU "power" is not need for Scrypt mining(Almost totally not needed, you should be fine with a dual core amd), you do better:

-Buying a cheaper motherboard with a cheaper processor.
-Not buy a case otherwise your cards will run too hot. Better design a custom solution.
-Get all your r9 280x to 750 KH/s they are totally capable of doing that, undervolt the core and memory and instead of powercolor or VTX3D, buy Sapphire or ASUS.I personally prefer Sapphire. I haven't had any problems with with my 3 Sapphire r9 280x.
-Get a cheaper PSU, for 4 undervolted r9 280x a 1475w PSU is way too much.

I think GDDR6 will not mean a significant increase in KH/s because my 7950 runs better with 1080 MHz at core/ 1250 at memory . If I increase the MHz at memory the KH/s will decrease. So, it's better to stay in a certain ratio between the core and memory speed.

Finally, invest in GPU to get cryptos may be one of the safest way to get them because you can sell your hardware or find a another purpose for it.

dont buy powercolor or VTX3D cards just because they are 10% cheaper- they are cheaper for a reason-because they are crap!

Thats expensive, I can build a rig for lot less for myself. about $2100 USD. Try to source the parts yourself get it built faster!

You can get AMD mobo and CPU, which will be half price of Intel.

I got one main computer I work with, Intel high end mobo, high end CPU and my cheap AMD rigs with cards inside them. Also 4GB of RAM is enough for mining. My AMD rigs have the same hashrate as my expensive computer (R9 290 cards each 830 KH/s)...

Then I will look for cheaper Mobo, with no case but custom rig.
- then I must learn how to under-volt the core and memory.
- I will look for r9 280x Sapphire ( or maybe better is R290 ? R290x ? )
- For W* it will deepens from the GPU

GDDR6 - If they will be lunch in 1 month I will try it if not Going for R9 280x/290/290x.

I want to buy 7 rig for Scrypt mining

total 7 unit:

1 unit:
CPU: AMD FX4-4300 Quad Core Processor
Motherboard: AMD 990FX Motherboard with 4x PCI-E x16 slots
RAM: 8GB DDR3 Memory
Hard Drive: Kingston 60GB Solid State Drive
Case: BitFenix Shinobi XL Full Tower Case
2 x Powercolor Radeon R9 280X 3072MB GDDR5  = 2*700 KHash/s= 1400
2 x VTX3D Radeon R9 280X 3072MB GDDR5 = 2*700 KHash/s=1400
PSU: up to 1475W Power Supply
Total per 1 unit 2800 KHash/s

7 unit * 2800 KHash/s =19600 KHash/s

1 unit 2,360 Euro / 3,200 USD

IT is worth of it ?

Considering GDDR6 in summer/late 2014 ?

Calc: http://tinyurl.com/nlu9qlz

What is your opinion ?

Thx !:)
