These predictions have not come true, but may come true Smiley. And in principle, to make a forecast for such a period is not very serious, only if you do not come from the future Grin.

It is always interesting to find predictions in the past which came true.

Huh.  I find that article very interesting,  and thank you for posting this.

I remember 1988 very well.  I was in to computers then, and they looked much different and there was no internet.  The authors, I'm sure, were not envisioning a non-physical form of money.  Certainly not a p2p currency like bitcoin.

We're not there yet, but we're damn close.  More adoption would really bring us closer to that prediction.   And I say it's a very good thing.

The cracks in the global financial system is likely to start later this year in various different regions, but the system is likely to start to really breakdown throughout all of 2018 (in ways that can no longer be ignored). Everyone should remember there really is a countdown...

"THIRTY years from now (Q3 2018), Americans, Japanese, Europeans, and people in many other rich countries, and some relatively poor ones will probably be paying for their shopping with the same currency. Prices will be quoted not in dollars, yen or D-marks but in, let's say, the phoenix. Te phoenix will be favoured by companies and shoppers because it will be more convenient than today's national currencies, which by then will seem a quaint cause of much disruption to economic life in the last twentieth century."

Basically "The Phoenix "= Gold/Commodity backed and limited supply international cryptocurrency to be used for trade by governments around the world as a replacement for the dying petrodollar reserve currency system that exists today.

There will always be an article from the past predicting financial conspiracies. Humans love conspiracy. A couple decades really isn't that long of time. I highly doubt, however, that a prediction for Bitcoin could have made, given how revolutionary it is. Computers even in the 1980's were highly underestimated in terms of the effect they would have on society today. No one could have predicted there would be such a thing as virtual gold, like Bitcoin.
