hello,

this is my first post after 6 months of learning from this great community. am thinking to start mining but am not sure about what route to take for the best BTC.

my budget is about $6k and i need some pointers regarding SHA-256 vs Script rig please.
thanks

get 1 or 2 ant miner s-1's

get grid seed 5 chip units.

mine btc with the s-1s mine ltc with the grid seed units.

 support just btc and ltc.  at least for the first month of mining.  after that look at other coins.

 I own 4 antminer s-1's and I own a  5 chip grid seed.  I have 7 gpu's mining ltc.

find a good seller of the gear near your area. buy in stock gear.

good luck

what do you think i should expect from 2 x antminers s1's on monthly basis ?

I have had an atminer hashing at around 175gh and I have received .51 since 2-16-14. So that should give you an idea.

You should also think about that anything more than 1-2 usd per gigahash will never even make back what the miner costs

@apollojmr lettuce grow room Tongue ?
am glad you have AC because in my case (Aberdeen, Scotland) thinking to buy a shed and put the whole system in the garden in winter and suffer from heat in what ever summer days we get. i was looking into liquide Nitrogen cooling but still too early to plan that.
i don't mind staying in touch, having friends in mining is always a blessing. Do you think 10k/month is a realistic target in mining ?

i am also looking into the 200-220 GH/s avalons from china but an not sure about the monthly yield and how stable the hardware from there.

cheers.

@sobe-it

thanks for your reply, yes its not stable yet, that why i am trying to wait, the new firmware supposed to be release today with a fix of the restart issues, hashing stability and maybe the 500kh/s.

the only reason why i would go for it is the space, and energy. I think 80 -110 LTC's are a decent yield, specially that i am planning to grow my system to 30insh mh/s rig in a year to keep up with the difficulty rate.

i will be monitoring Gridseed today, fingers crossed. Smiley

@apollojmr, thanks for the links,

to be honest i like bitcoin because of its fundamentals, but i also have a 1 year old daughter so, a bit of profit wont be a bad idea Tongue
i am currently looking into the gridseed 360kh/s units and thinking to get about 30 units as a start because it can mine both.

at the moment its not the most stable miners but jack/@asiaBTC will be releasing some new firmware soon that should make this units more stable. i come from IT background (mostly programming) but hacking things is in me as well.

my aim is to grow my rig as i go as long as my start yields about 2BTC's or 70LTC's per month. now i know its hard to get a steady number each month, thats why i want to grow my rig every 90 days or so.

whats your thoughts ?

I think that is an absolute great idea. I am going to give the grid seed a chance when the larger units arrive. I have 3 scrypt rigs that I am actually starting tomorrow cause I had a problem getting the motherboards to recognize all of the gpus. I have a guy setting them going for me and I am excited to start hashing. I have an antminer hashing away bitcoin at about 180gh now and I also plan on adding more to that soon as well. I have an awesome setup in my basement that was a grow room that is going to be a perfect spot to start a little farm. It has its own a/c and 3 solid dedicated 220v so its perfect. I also have a way to pump cold air in the winter from outside to cool. Its super sealed up also for sound so it should be a great spot. I am thinking about hosting some miners there for others or maybe even running a few lease options as well. I am not growing any more because it was a lot of work so I hope this works out because I am losing a lot of income to do it. I wouldnt mind keeping in touch with you to see how the grid seed does if thats cool..? I received a message from jack that the 12mh miners will be out soon and I think thats when I will buy in on them as itll be more bang for the buck. My antminer is actually a hosted machine with unicorn hashers and after 90 days I will bring it home and let it hash away as well as maybe buying more every few weeks until I can achieve 10k month. I have a very good income wih my current job and I need to have some serious income to even consider making mining a job, but I am optimistic that I can make it work. Good luck bud with your project.

i wouldnt use the gridseed units to mine both.... seems they have issues in dual mode. 30 units would net you 80-110 ltc a month depending on the hash rate at the current difficulty. i have herd/seen mostly 300-400 each unit but have also herd of 500+ on each unit oc'ed/firmware upgrade.

A lot of it just depends on what you're looking to mine for. If youre purely profit motivated then you'll probably want to mine scrypt coins. If you want to be part of the bitcoin protocol and help with that then I'm going to say mine bitcoin. I think you'll get a lot more money out of mining scrypt in the longrun. I personally mine both ways as of right now and am expanding more each day. I like scrypt because I enjoy building the rigs. I am posting a few links to articles I read and I think youll enjoy them. If you need any help in choosing the right setup or have any questions hit me up. Good luck!
