I opened this account 2 weeks ago after I got demoted back to newbie on my previous account, also made a thread to mark the date;

As most would likely guess I had (still have) an account which I was using for bounties, long story short, I got demoted, had lots of spam, and felt like the problem to the forum (I kinda was).

Hopefully, in this second trial, both I and the other members can benefit. As I would do the best I can with the little I have. And if possible, grow on that little.
Let's go.

P. S.  This thread would be locked as it is not to stimulate a response, but for my personal motivation.

I can say I have been of little help to people this far, but that doesn't compare to how much help I have received in the space of time.
I have learnt more in two weeks trying to contribute than I did in months spamming the forum.

There's still so much to learn, and there are members who of course achieved far more in same or lesser time.
But it feels good to have a little hint that you are welcome to the community.

Good for you. At least you're on your way to really learn things alot of things about crypto here in our community so that's a good start. Yes, there's so much to learn and majority of us started that small steps and some of us is willing to trek that long journey ahead. I'm not sure though if you're going back to your old account and spam the hell out of this forum again.  Grin

The good thing is that you have proven that the 1 merit requirement is not difficult to achieve at all. In fact, in these two weeks you’ve been merited by 6 different people, which is in fact more meaningful (7 now). What’s more, the merit you have achieved is not one sole specific section/subsection, but on five. That is not easy to do, and on it’s own shows that merit awarding to decent posts can be obtained on multiple areas even by a Newbie account.

It’s true that separating your post history by creating a new account rather than going with your old account likely helped, since most meriters check posting history, and history can take its toll. I did see that you referenced it on your first post from this account, but knowing it without seeing it has a better effect than seeing it straight off.

I appreciate the kind words (from you and the others) and also the analysis, it makes the achievement just that more important.
Your progress in a remarkably short space of time (all earned also) is what I and other members admire and strive to emulate.

Maybe your decision is expected by theymos to all member who demoted so they will start again from zero and learn more how to make this forum clean from spammer. I think now everyone can learn and hope all demoted member can follow you. Its possible to get merit all depend on our efforts.

Very good to hear and congrats to your decision to start over again. With this mindset you will be a very good addition to the forum and as you can already see the the merit comes as soon as you stop to hunt for it ;-)

The forum sure does feel like a better place this days, reduced spammers and spamming alike, as it'll be of no use spamming when you actually can't get a merit.

TBH merits seems like a trophy this days, everyone vying for the coveted title,i wouldn't actually blame sources and higher ranked members who are reluctant to give it out,as a few would only go back to spamming

But in my own case, the merit system killed all the atoms of spamming in me, and now it's all about the forum at the moment, contributing and offering assistance..

I've actually been trying out my own very personal signature(which was actually the purpose of it in the first place)it sure feels better than bounty signatures
