Why ? Tobacco is very harmful to health. Many medical experts have proven that smoking causes lung cancer very quickly. If you don't want to end your life early, I advise you not to smoke

Cigarettes and other drugs damage health and create others many diseases people who take different types of drugs get different types of diseases in their bodies. These are definitely a cause of harm to our bodies. It is possible to stay free from many diseases without smoking although it can be passed on to our body later on.

I quit 2 years ago and I never felt better. I know it sounds strange but I read a book and I it was easy to quit. I strongly encourage everyone to do so because they can but they dont know that.

Congratulations to you, a very, very good life choice. I’m sure you are well aware of the long term risks of smoking. You’ve added years to your life probably by quitting, plus you won’t stink of smoke any more too Cheesy

I was still drinking even though I wasn't in heavy drinker mode. When I woke up in the morning, I could never get used to that bitter taste in my mouth. I drank for about 8 years. In 2017, I decided to quit because of the bad taste I had one morning. all i did was quit and i wouldn't drink anymore.

also sometimes sickness will help people quit  Grin Grin Grin

When they were Diagnosed with acute problem in lungs or other part of their internals..
It is terrible if we have to quit smoking because of disease, that's a hard way to quit smoking in my opinion. Therefore, it is better if we stop
smoking before we catch the disease. Sometimes people have to get sick first and then realize, otherwise they will continue to smoke.
In the end, ourselves will choose to stop with our own awareness or stop after being sick.
That is because they feel hard to stop smoking and they already tried it before. The temptation of smoking is really strong and not many people can easily quit smoking without any reason. But yes, it is better to quit smoking before something worst happens to us so we do not have to cure it because of smoking.

We also have one in the family that is struggling to quit. He quit once but goes back again. But he felt the change in his body when he quit for about 2 weeks, and he liked it. But unfortunately, he returned to smoking. I believe, it needs strong motivation why you are quitting for good. And maybe, strong support from the people around you. I really commend those people that finally are cigarette-free. For me, that's a huge achievement to change for the betterment of yourself.

The process of people wanting to quit smoking is a long process and not instantaneous. It is natural if people have stopped, then returned to
smoking, because cigarette addiction is not easy to get rid of. I agree that the support of those closest persons is very important, so if we want
our partner to stop smoking, don't scold him, but provide support in a good way. I am sure if smoker get support from their partners, can be faster
when he want to quit smoking.

I quit 2 years ago and I never felt better. I know it sounds strange but I read a book and I it was easy to quit. I strongly encourage everyone to do so because they can but they dont know that.
I have quit smoking many, many times. And only the last one turned out to be successful. It was five years ago. I remember that I had almost a full pack of cigarettes. I did not throw it away immediately, I kept it just in case. Only three months later, I threw away this pack of cigarettes. The main thing is to want very much, and that there would be no smokers nearby.

Interesting.
The problem with smoking cigarette is the harm  it causes to probably most/all of its smokers.
Getting addicted to cigarette smoking is likely much harmful to the body. This is why I believe those addicted to smoking cigarette need to quit smoking completely. I have heard certain smokers say it does not harm them... i hope thorough research is done on their claim to know the truth. I think it should also be beneficial to such smokers if truely its harmless to them otherwise it's probably better  to take cigarettes completely away from public view.

In regards to the bolded part, I believe that is a quick and easy way to recover from addiction to things that are bad for us.

The harm comes from the chemicals in the paper that holds the tobacco together.

Strong will is key for eveyrhing. not every person have that type of character

Strong will is key to majority of the things and this helps a lot in the bad times as well. Whenever you are down or adducted the willpower determines your next step if it would be in right direction or will continue to it. That  is the reason many times you stop it for a while and then continue back as cannot sustain for longer.

Don't worry everyone is going to die someday so if you like to smoke then just smoke but don't over do it. Wink

Getting addicted to it can be a problem eventually most of the people who are smoking addicted to it so they can't stop smoking unless they get the same amount of dopamine in some other way.

Smoking is bad for you it can cause lung cancer and some other things. We all need a break but we don't need a cigarette. Those who smoke need to stop and change the habit.
Smoking doesn't kill everyone but it will kill a lot of people and that is why it's so important to not smoke.

I agree, just because we will die one day doesn't mean we should be smoking, or take other non necessary risks. With this justification we could do anything that his risky and harmful to us. We have only one life and need to be careful with it. I had my last cigarette last year and think everyday of just smoking one. It took me so many attempts to stop smoking, really hope this is my last one.

Smoking is injurious to health, there is no doubt in it but my argument is still we are going to die even if we never had one puff of it so try it if you want. Does smoking cause cancer and smoking kills then why governments are selling it?

We need to protest to ban the cigarette manufacturing all over the world, possible?

Even though I am not a smoker, but I know how my friend struggled to quit smoking and finally succeeded. Cigarette addiction cannot be stopped,
if there is no strong desire within oneself to quit. Therefore, if we want to quit smoking, the first thing to do is to intend ourselves to quit smoking.
Simply by doing this, I see my friend can succeed in quitting smoking. So I appreciate anyone who can quit smoking is a great achievement,
I know it's not an easy process to quit smoking.

First I want to congratulate you on your achievement not everyone could do it,
We could all encourage everyone but not everyone could do what you've done you might find it easy but others would find it to be so difficult.
I also heard that there are some cases where those who have been smoking for so long would really have a hard time stopping it,
There are some who would be sick or something I think the longer they had been smoking the harder it would be for them to stop.
I also has been smoking cigarette for about 2 or more years but I decided to quit and right after I decided I just stop on smoking it might have been easy for me but I know how hard it would be for others since I was only smoking for 2 or more years and there would be some days that I would really crave for it.

Congrats mate , Lucky for you that had been quit for more than 2 years while i am just starting now , i am taking it hard but i know i will succeed one day.

i am always fond of those smokers that eventually made their way to smoke free living.

Nice one my friend @OP. You know, the most difficult part about staying out of what you've condemned as a bad habit is the determination and staying true to your words especially, when you've got no one pushing you to do it. You knew what you want to achieve and your two years on it so far. Cheers!
and sometimes it is the community you are living with , if the people around you are smokers then for sure it will be harder to motivate yourself from completely stepping out.

You will require strong power within yourself to say it no and just stop it all of it. It would be difficult initially but if you can overcome those times then you should be set like others who have quit smoking for their own good. It is self-control which is essential to stop such habits.

Congrats for overcoming cigarette smoking.

Its not really easy to quit and you feel something unusual if you tried to not smoke even for few hours.

But it can be done slowly, I would appreciate if you share your experience on quitting successfully.
+

I left it slowly with gum. First I tried to quit without using gum or anything and I started smoking again soon after. Then I started smoking nicotine gum and slowly lowered the dosage. I started with about 10 pieces of gum, and after a week I went down to 9, then 8, and so on. In the end, when I was only eating 2 or 3 pieces of gum a day, I stopped the gum as well.

Of course, ayahuasca ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ayahuasca ), when used properly, can make you cigarette AND weed free.

Cool

Isn't ayahuasca just DMT in more natural form?
I know there are some rituals involved in true ayahuasca experience but IDK if people get better or more enlighten after that, or just get a touch a death in their mind permanently...

Doesn't a "more natural form" mean that there's a whole lot of stuff along with it? Perhaps it's not milder. Maybe it is simply used the way nature really intended.

Smoking is dangerous and it effects the body, some have a good resistance so not much ill effects happen else have seen people due to which at later stage in life different related diseases takes place.

It is easy to quit it if you take this decision.
You have to be kind of "selfish" to quit it and support the decision that you made to quit it.

I quit 2 years ago and I never felt better. I know it sounds strange but I read a book and I it was easy to quit. I strongly encourage everyone to do so because they can but they dont know that.

Congratulations buddy, that is great news. Keep it up.

I stopped smoking at the start of the corona pandemic, so far it's going good but I am afraid to start smoking again when the pandemic is over. With corona being really bad if you have preconditions in your lungs I got scared straight.

I quit nearly 60 years ago. I watched a film about the cilia in your lungs, and I gave up on the spot.

I'm happy for you OP. Couldn't say I know how it feels as I don't smoke.
However, I wish someone I knew could've had this feeling. Too late now Sad

Congratulations, it's an achievement!

I don't smoke but I have my brother who's struggling to quit it and even he says, he'll quit, he just can't. Can you share how you were able to conquer and quit smoking?
You need strong will and desire to stop. That's the first step. Reading book It's easy to quit smoking helped me a lot. I still have desire to smoke but I have to stay strong
Welp.

My brother doesn't have that strength in his will to quit smoke. It's always about talks that he wants to quit but lacks of action.

I'll tell this to him, thanks!

Honestly, release from cigarettes is not easy...
Two years of successfully being free from smoking is a major achievement in your person, hopefully it can continue forever so your body and mind are healthier.

Good for you, and also for the people around you - not only will you save your health, but you can also save some money and invest it in some other things. I quit 8+ years ago and when I look back I don’t even understand why I used that poison.

What matters is that you don’t let others poison you with cigarette smoke, because there’s no point in quitting smoking if everyone around you smokes like chimneys Wink
