I think that govts. could be angry on their central-bankers-overlords. So there is always this possibility that Satoshi was made by govt to get rid of them. But somtehing says to me that Satoshi is made on cypherpunks roots so the mysterious anonymous creator pretty fits into cypherpunks thinking.

"The public is stupid, hence the public will pay"
I actually like the rationale.

Let's remember, a good number of coins were rewarded to the first instance of bitcoin. If the 1.5 million coin estimates are in the ballpark, that would give the creators about a 10th of all wealth in bitcoin. That's significantly more than even the largest of governments could wish for right now.

Kind of "out there" - but the idea has certainly crossed a more than a few people's minds.

If bitcoin were ever deemed a clear and present danger to national security, all bets are off as to what would happen next.

An idea of a cryptocurrency was published a decade before the launch of Bitcoin. Govt had only one way to overcome the idea - to compromise it. After worldwide adoption of Bitcoin a breach can be "leaked" to initiate a collapse of the cryptocurrency. Trust in whatever-coin will be ruined and govt will get a few decades more to find other solution...

...Something like that?
