Dunne believes Bitcoin, given its wild price swings, is more of a tool for speculation than a currency. “The trouble with Bitcoin is nobody knows what’s going on underneath the hood,” she said.

What a nasty-minded aspersion to cast on an open source and transparent system.
It seems to me that Bitcoin has a glass hood - you can *see* the motor running, as opposed to proprietary & governmental financial systems where you can't inspect the inner workings.

A glass hood, and the motor parts themselves are made of crystal... but never let the truth get in the way of a nice audio clip  Smiley

Simple - it's regulator-speak for:

"We can't afford for people to have true financial freedom. We'll be enacting laws to benefit our already wealthy constituents and campaign contributors."

It's just so transparent it makes me ill.

the regulators keep saying that regs are necessary b/c of money laundering.

why do they never mention the #1 currency in the world used for money laundering; let alone the major entities using it for that purpose?

Pretty good article.  I liked this quote:

Quote
“Bitcoin is to money what Amazon (AMZN) is to retail or Netflix (NFLX) is to video content -- a much more efficient way to meet the needs of millions of people around the world," Colas said.

Also, the discussion on how Bitcoin needs to move towards being used for less nefarious purposes was vaild I thought.
