Their abject terror and fear of Bitcoin amuses me.

It's so bad they do not even try to understand what Bitcoin is. They just attack FUD, attack, FUD, attack, because Bitcoin challenges *everything*.

interesting times indeed...

Yup, this was quite mild, but I really enjoy reading the mega Fear + Attack ones like the famous NZ one (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SoIVj4K3dOc). Morbid curiosity perhaps? I really should find better things to do.

The hostile ones shine a light on the vast chasm between the programmers and those who have no idea about computing - Even though they are happy to make use of end products for computing every day - and will probably be using BTC in time without even knowing it.

Basically it looks like the same egocentric thinking :

It won't work because it isn't what I know works, and I like what I know and don't like what I don't know. This isn't what I know and therefore it can't work because I don't get it and its hard anyway. Besides gov won't allow it and the geeks are all over it and ... degrades to can't be used except only for bad things ...

sigh, it seems that this Wharton professor guy didnt realize that bitcoin is at its early phase, its only been around for 3 yrs for crying out loud, of course its acceptance still limited, high volatility, etc. He tries to compare it to fiat and gold which is like comparing a teen-hobbit with Gandalf.

Whooo hoo - genius in action. Give the man a cigar. I want this on a T-shirt!

Professor James Angel explains: "Bitcoins are a string of numbers…these numbers can be used to make payment."

Professor Angel is going to be eating his words in a few years. I don't know if his statements are being taken out of context, but he seems extremely narrow-minded.
