Oh the irony. Satoshi created a global hybrid payment system/currency, and the best use so far is some profit-uber-alles MBA's gambling site.

We should be *so* proud.

The gambling claim is true if you count transactions (all that dust) rather than currency volume. Makes for a good headline.

The article seemed reasonable to me - nothing new, but the commenters at Ars - FUD war games - everything from banging on the volatility drum to tulip mania. Same old. I wonder who these people are. Do they scan the Webz, fingers at the ready, to pounce whenever a new BTC story appears, does somebody give them a call when their services are needed, or (gulp) are they random earnest thoughtful people spontaneously expressing their considered opinions on the issues of the day?      Smiley

More intriguingly - if FUD-spreaders work for entities in fiat-world, as often seems to be the case, then how do "good guys" usually seem to appear out of nowhere to help push them back?

Many years ago... I got a promotion that was reported in an industry journal. From that time on, the journal would invite me to comment on the stories of the day - they had just harvested my name from the promotion notice. It was an eye-opening experience for me at the time.
