1. People here don't seem to understand that if government decides to use Bitcoin, they will simply take some of your tax money; build powerplants for mining; and then, again, control the currency. Ofcourse they'd still love to sell you the new story that it's all trustable because it's 'distributed'; they need a userbase just as they need a userbase for the dollar.

2. Bitcoin Foundation is not for Bitcoin, it's for the board members of the foundation. It's their ticket to jump to the next level in real life and if they suck enough cock, they can get there fairly effortlessly.

There may be pockets of the world (including the U.S.) where bitcoin business choose to voluntary accept the laws placed upon them, but that doesn't mean bitcoin itself will be universally bound to those laws.  Government itself can't reach into bitcoin and try to enforce things at a protocol level because users simply will not run it.  

The points at which BTC will see the most regulation is where it is used to trade for fiat or purchase items in a particular country. Regulating business transactions is far easier.
