We think bitcoin is a great and legitimate instrument. ... Now, in order to protect the citizens, we will be providing bitcoin-licences to shops that want to accept bitcoins for the low low price of $10k / month.  Grin

wait....wtf?!?!?!? the federal reserve chairman stating they have no plans to regulate bitcoin currently???
Isnt this pretty much what the chinese bank administrator said recently???

THIS IS COMPLETELY insane! ... Id expected much more negative from US government. So far, Im thoroughly surprised.
If ... this shit is truely this positive...then sky is the limit! Its hard to believe this.

But, the other side is obvious too, while fed may not have any immediate plans to regulate... Im sure they are the ones behind the banks pulling the ropes on closing business accounts because they transact in bitcoin. who knows...

Hmmm, I'm guessing one of the agencies is going to say something bad by trying to add guidance that is onerous or something.

Who knows, we'll see how tomorrow goes!

Ben Bernanke, chairman of the Federal Reserve, is also weighing in on the hearing, saying that it has no plans to regulate the currency.

“Although the Federal Reserve generally monitors developments in virtual currencies and other payments system innovations, it does not necessarily have authority to directly supervise or regulate these innovations or the entities that provide them to the market,” Bernanke wrote in a letter to the committee.
