a newer mac or pc and synch (that takes a while, because the blockchain is as the time of writing ~269 GB big).
Then copy your wallet.dat to it and open it in bitcoin-qt.
oh wow, thank you. I did not know you could transfer them/it. I don't suppose you have any resources that explain those steps of copying and then syncing after installing on a new computer do you?
You can follow this guide below to back up and get the wallet file.
After you back up the wallet.dat you can import it to a new wallet on another pc(Windows/macOS)
For directory path, you can delete the wallet.dat generated from your new wallet and replace it with the old copy of your wallet.dat
For other OS wallet folder location, if you are going to import the wallet.dat file on windows it must be on %APPDATA%\Bitcoin
or Check the other data directory from here https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Data_directory
After you replace it with your old wallet restart the Bitcoin core wallet and should be sync normally with your old wallet.
If there's no extra PC better follow my suggestion above because the version of your macOS is compatible with the Electrum wallet.
