I havent figured out why people dont reference forum time.  That way everyone is on the "same" timezone.  Is there a reason more people dont do this

Been auctioning here for years and this is the first time I had an issue like this.

No im with you on this and im good.  But to make things universal forum time could be used.  ***btw im in the est and never had a problem but I started using both est and forum time to eliminate pms about timezones.

There are a bunch of free countdown timers on the internet that sellers could create and link to.  I don't see why it's left to the buyers to figure out all the timezone nonsense..

Grats to the winner!  She's a beaut!

Either way, this doesn't matter anymore as you've called a winner. Possible my comments confused or neutered snipers, for that I apologize.

All I'm trying to say by all this is you've been inaccurately using the acronym "EST".

Hmm strange...I was not aware there were multiple Eastern Time Zones. I have done a lot of auctions and this has never come up before. Sorry for the confusion then.

Oh and just to be clear for the snipers, this closes at 1800EST not 1800EDT? Good 'ol daylight savings!

Exactly! You guys better bid it up real high now to avoid that scenario. I think a bid of 5BTC would be a really good idea.

20 minutes left...if the winner wants a free wooden display case let me know!

Uhhh in 15 minutes it'll be 1700EST. That's an hour early, isn't it?  Tongue

No I ignore forum time and set it to something easier... EST time zone. There should be no confusion that way. GMT -5

Lol, this has nothing to do with forum time. You misunderstood my question.

This has to do with the difference between the time references. EST is Eastern Standard Time (non-summer). EDT is Eastern DAYLIGHT Time (summer). Not zones. Not "local".

You realize it is 2240 GMT right now, right? By your own statement, GMT -5 is .... 1740!

But whatever, your auction, do what you will... nice sale  Cheesy

I live in the EST time zone...I go by that time. Right now it is 7:00 PM EST. Not sure why this is confusing as every single auction I have ever done is always based on EST.

There are plenty of newer people buying coins all of the time. I also notice some older accounts that randomly buy them. Casascius coins are an excellent purchase for multiple reasons. The values seem to only go up, they are easy to sell and get liquid, and they are part of Bitcoin's history.
I agree and plan to buy myself a gift in the near future of one of these beautiful very collectable coins.

Auction could get interestin now since  Lesbian Cow just got back from the pub and put a bid in.
Ahh there's nothing like buyers remorse after a drinking session, been there.  Cheesy

Ha, if I won this coin for that low bid there would be no remorse at all.  I believe this coin will go North of 4 BTC but we'll see.  The sniping in effect is awesome as it makes the end very dramatic.

I have now switched from cocktails to just, you know, blazedout...
I think cocktails would be a cheaper night but the Casascius coin will last longer than the hangover from the cocktails.
Good luck!

Ps, funny username but i would be a bit reluctent to try seach for you on google by entering that username, who know what might come up.  Cheesy

Oh My, a blazed auction featuring dazed, QS, TookDk, Cyclops, wheelz1200 - with TheAnalogKid to arrive shortly.

Will michael1 swoop in at the end?

My sniper rifle is loaded.

Haha you pretty much summed up a typical B-Dizzle auction  Tongue

I think there's about a dozen of us that just trade coins around in big circles.  Tongue

It may appear that way, but new collectors appear to be  coming into the space.  Shit, I am new myself.

While 100% of my buys of physical Cas coins have been from just a few well known names, that is not the case with my sales.  The slight majority of my sales have been to newbies/junior members - many of who say it is their first Cas coin purchase.  Of course the cynic could say these could be alts of the same regulars, but I don't think so.

IMO the appeal of the Cas coins to a collector is very similar to that of old currencies which were minted during significant historic events - they are not being made anymore - if anything the supply will diminish - and they symbolize, in physical form, a time period/culture.

Sorry to derail your thread B-Dizzle, but as we have all pointed out, we have no where to discuss this stuff (which is absolutely ludicrous at this point).

If nothing above makes sense it is because I just returned from the pub.

Oh, and I bid 3.27

Cheers all!

Wow with aa starting bid of BTC1 i was hoping i might be able to score this coin for maybe BTC1.5 or a little more.
That BTC2 bid then QS bid have put me out.
I will watch this with interest, Blazdoubt's auctions are always popular.
Good luck all.

I know starting these at 1BTC is pretty much silly, but it is just how I auction. I assume this will go well over 3 pretty quick (I hope anyways).
