I have shopped at both many a time, I still have the reciepts and my PC is made up from both sites! (the case from ebuyer). I was a gamer before bitcoin mining so would go where ever the best deal was

A lot of it is about competition. Some business owners absolutely hate not having something on offer that their competitor does. Once the ball is rolling things will escalate quickly.
