Africa is in need of being a part of the Bitcoin.  I belive ATMs in the Africa can change a lot and people will understand very fast how much help to those people it can give.

Exactly. Bitcoins needs the Africans and the Africans needs Bitcoin. It is a mutually beneficial relationship. The only losers will be exploitative companies such as Western Union and Mastercard.

I believe all of those not clear regulations are making a mess in people's heads.  But I believe in a same time that ATMs will spread world wide really fast and all of those regulations will not stop it.

1st Btc Atm is just about 8th months old and look how many are around this day.

You are right. Right now Bitcoin ATMs exist in all the continents, with the exception of Africa and Antarctica. And today there was news that Africa is going to get its first Bitcoin ATM very soon.

Legally speaking, can I run one of these in the US?

Why not? Already close to a dozen Bitcoin ATMs are operating in the US. Since the IRS has classified that Bitcoin is not a currency, I don't think that you'll have to worry about anything.

Good point.

Also, even in the event they tried to enforce some bogus regulation, it would be a losing battle. Like the RIAA trying to scare people from torrents by suing a few college kids.

That's a tricky question that you definitely need to consult an attorney about if you are serious. Regulation around the sale of Bitcoin is likely to shift again, as it's currently pretty gray. As it stands now, I believe the only states that don't have money transmission laws are Montana, New Mexico, and South Carolina. So if I lived in one of these states, I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Just to note that their is a significant price range between the Robocoin at 20K
And the lamassus
1-9 units cost $6,500, 10 units or more cost $5,500.
That said do think the Skyhooks will help advance Bitcoin so good news

The Robocoin ATM is almost 20 times as expensive as this ATM. I don't think anyone would go for the Robocoin ATM anymore, unless they slash their prices in a big way.

I already sent them an e-mail with question about providing all functionality screens for Bitcoin Online Embassy project.
If they will send me their screens I will put their ATM into virtual world of BTC Online Embassy so everyone will be able to see how their ATM works Smiley

Skyhook is new to the bitcoin ATM-scape but already interesting many with its first project, the first ever portable, open-source bitcoin ATM machine starting at $999. The Portland-based manufacturer released it last Monday (12th May) and demoed it at the Bitcoin2014 conference this weekend. Giants like Robocoin and Lamassu charge up to $20,000 for an ATM that exchange bitcoin for fiat currencies worldwide. Skyhook’s hardware and software are designed to make bitcoin more accessible to the masses, as well as existing bitcoin users.

This is great! Portable size is great feature that it provides but ... there is only one but Smiley it is much easier to steal than giant Robocon for ex.

But still this is great! Smiley just need a chain to lock it up Tongue
