The Australian government needs to pay closer attention to the meteoric rise of Bitcoin and its regulation in the local market, as businesses and customers increasingly turn to the world’s most famous digital currency for transactions.
That is the view of Ronald Tucker, chairman delegate of the Australian Digital Currency Commerce Association, who argues that Australia has the chance of being the leader to tighten the regulatory framework around bitcoins in the Asia Pacific region – or risks being left behind as other economies take note.
