mainstream means = dell accepts payments in BTC  Tongue

When I can buy gas with it I will agree that it is mainstream. That is my own definition any way.

I believe that Bitcoin has already become mainstream, at least in the U.S.
Sort of... in the media. But I bet wayyyy less than 1% of people in the US own any bitcoin. So I think it's actually still heading toward being mainstream (very quickly)

At first I thought the guest on the video invented some alt coin named Quick Coin. I was like "oh no..." lol

But what he did is really awesome! A facebook interface which allows the sending and receiving of bitcoin without the complexities.

That is going to help spread bitcoin adoption in a major way. I suspect his application goes viral and there will be more like it soon too.

Very well done to him for making a huge step forward for bitcoin adoption worldwide!

The one thing to note about his service is it is a centralized 3rd party between the sender and receiver. It's not directly sending bitcoin from A to B. So, you have to trust QuickCoin to be an honest 3rd party transmitting the money. I think they are honest and it will be a great step forward for the mainstream. I wouldn't go sending 10 BTC around with it, but for the little stuff (tipping, etc) it's great! And for people in third world countries who can now receive bitcoin from their family overseas, this will be huge too.

The question is what is the definition of mainstream? If it means every coffee shop will be accepting bitcoin, I don't thing it will happen. But maybe it will become a popular investment and trading tool.
