The price of bitcoin has continued to slide, continuing a downward trend that began almost two weeks ago. In that time, the value of a single bitcoin has fallen by almost $50 (£30).

Most other major cryptocurrencies also saw their prices drop over the last 24 hours, with litecoin, peercoin, dogecoin and namecoin all slipping by between 2% and 7%. Only darkcoin achieved any positive movement as the privacy-focused altcon enjoyed a brief respite from a week-long period of steadily tumbling prices.

I think people are going on holidays these days, so the price will drop. I expect after the holidays, the price will continue to rise. 2 weeks is a very short period, the price has risen from 405$ two months ago to 592$.

I do not think the altcoin prices are related. Litecoin price has been dropping ever since it reached 40$ per coin and had been stuck at $8 for a long time. It's now reaching 6$
