The Silk Road auction was for over $30 million worth of coins while this is not even 1/20 of that.

There is also the possibility that the seller did not elect to sell all of the bitcoin he received right away. If anything this will increase public awareness of bitcoin and help it over the long run.

You got your numbers wrong. The auction was for 30K coins estimated to be worth $17 million. This transaction is ~10% of that.
