Don't ever believe the Chinese government officials. Their stance changes every now and then. They will ban bitcoin again next week and then allow people to own them by new year.

Can't argue with that. This may just be PR. After all, they're very calculated with the statements they make to the outside world. They don't control the media there.

As Bitcoin is getting more traction, more officials will start to jump ship.  Ultimately, no one can argue this is a bad thing. In fact, support is just what Bitcoin needs right now. It's ridiculous that outside of the community, no one really understands Bitcoin.

who understood the internet in 1994? not many. and today with bitcoin its even more complicated because you deal with money Smiley

That's very true. A lot of people still don't understand the Internet today, though. Meaning, almost everyone who can connect does connect. However, a lot of Internet users are completely oblivious to how it works, which results in security flaws and everything that ensues afterwards.

This shouldn't happen with Bitcoin. People will need to better educate themselves on how technology works. Some people will wonder why even shift to something new, but that just proves that they need to be taught how it all works and how it affects them.

Chinese Official: Bitcoin Can 'Co-exist' with Fiat Currencies

A former vice-governor of China's central bank, Wu Xiaoling, has said that digital currencies like bitcoin "could co-exist with fiat currencies".

Wu, who is currently a member of National People's Congress Standing Committee and a vice-chairperson of the Financial and Economic Affairs Committee, made her remarks as keynote speaker at the Sanya International Financial Forum, a mainstream event featuring political and business leaders.
