There are companies offering "zero wait" times, but I would not use them, due to their centralized nature.

I am also realistic when I say... "Mainstream adoption should be placed on the back burner, until real world solutions for Bitcoin security could be established"

I am not sure if hardware wallets like "Trezor" would be enough, to fill that gap. People need something "rock solid" and easy to use.  Wink

The Bitcoin is years away from being ready to go mainstream payment system, it's just too slow considering the amount of time takes for a transaction to be verified..

A faster payment system should be developed with Sidechains before going mainstream, but the Bitcoin will be the most influencing technology in our era without any doubt.

There are supermarkets and other merchants that don't require you to wait for confirmations.

But it is most likely only with low amounts like $1-$20 perhaps even higher.

Accepting payments without confirmations is risky for merchants, but not impossible.

A few months ago I was reading an article about how you can verify a transaction without needing to wait for confirmations.

I only can't find it, if some one knows which article I'm talking about, please post a link.

Bitcoin, as it is now, can be fully and securely implemented for mainstream adoption, in my opinion... We have enough tools and services for merchants and people that makes Bitcoin easy to use and accept.

In fairness, it's not like you're missing anything without it.  The quoted segment was pretty much the whole article.  The rest is just a list of some randomly selected bitcoin services and some spiel about them:

Highlighting a few companies at random seems kind of futile considering there's going to be thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, of them soon enough.

Is it? I don't think so. Any merchant anywhere with an internet connection can accept it. All you need is a phone or tablet. In fact, you don't even need that - a printed QR code would work. It's also not slow as the payments are instant and far quicker than creditcards to be 'confirmed'.

Is The World Ready For Bitcoin To Go Mainstream?

Quote
Bitcoin is changing the way people pay for things and the larger economy overall. Although bitcoin remains mysterious and confusing to most people, there are signs nearly every day that bitcoin is gaining more and more legitimacy, not only in technology circles but also amongst the mainstream.

Bitcoin was pegged in a report by Goldman Sachs as having the potential to reshape the financial industry, in large part due to the way the currency decentralized the movement of money. If that’s not enough, just recently one New Hampshire legislator introduced a bill that could lead to the state accepting bitcoins for taxes and fees.
