The only time Bitcoin would end poverty if it was mainstream and global and everyone was using it. Some how I do not see this happening any time soon unless theirs a massive movement to get this under way and still this will not happen because too many people don't bother to read about or just cant be bothered to learn about and or use for their business or personal use.

He probably got burned investing in Bitcoin o he thinks it won't achieve much but something else based on the blockchain might. He's limited, thinks inside the box.

The day when people can vote using the Blockchain, it would change a lot of things, in countries where voting is rigged and corrupt governments are elected, with these rigged votes.
You have countries where elections are moderated at the voting stations, but the people are intimidated in the queue or at home.
The resulting corrupt governments are not a true reflection of the majority of the people {Where democracy are used} and these corrupt governments, use fiat currencies via Reserve banks to manipulate the value of the worth of people's money, to keep them in poverty.
They set interest rates.... They inflate tax, by spending more than what they received, and then they start to loan or increase tax..
Poor people are easier to "manage" and "control" ....... Their power over your money, gives them control over you.
I am not against good governance.... I am against corrupt governance.
