Most people could get a machine gun but you would have to pass a super background check, pay hundreds of dollars, and must have a completely clean record. You must also submit to all sorts of strict rules. For example, you must allow the police to inspect your weapons at any time day or night. There is a fiction that in America street thugs have machine guns. It is not true, very few people have a full auto firearm.
