You think that was quick?
Wait till they see the price drop. You will have numerous articles predicting the collapse of Bitcoin popping up.

Sure the price drop is potential fodder for another round of articles about how bitcoin is forking.  Not good at all.

ashour, I think we've passed the debate stage and moved into the ugly divorce stage, complete with furnature on the lawn and the law called for domestic disturbances.  Should provide a lot of drama.

This isn'r an Identity crisis in my opinion. It's more like a debate, either let bitcoin as it is or implement bigger blocks. And the bitcoin community is getting divided by this debate.

Of course this is like an invite for them.Dramatic news is good to for sale and clicks. Nothing else had to be expected. And for sure it will have some influence on Bitcoin. We are already seeing it in the actual price decline.
In the long run however it will not matter.

Bitcoin Is Having an Identity Crisis

Bitcoin was built on the sort of open-source ethos that has driven generations of geeks. But the same principles it celebrates—a decentralized network of contributors, a transparent code base—are allowing competitors to flourish. The bitcoin faithful aren’t so sure that’s a good thing.

An identity crisis over Bitcoin XT? I don't think so.
At least the article is honest enough and says that the odds are against Bitcoin XT.
