The problem is still the last mile connectivity.
Micro jobs are usually outsourced to people in developing countries. If they can't convert BTC to fiat easily, we have a problem.

Have to agree, no other payment method makes sense when it comes to micro jobs due to the higher fees as mentioned in the article.

Guidelines and rules are needed sooner or later, and industry leaders will have to sit down with officials to come to agreeable terms. Until those regulations are put in place, micro jobs and the sharing economy will always be considered a “gray zone,” which is far from beneficial to participants.

Not so sure that I agree with this statement though. Firstly I cannot see how they will implement rules and regulations in regards to micro jobs as the kind of jobs being done are so diverse and it more often than not covers more than one businesses sector and or segment. Added to this is the fact that the people who do these jobs are from all over the world and it will be a regulation nightmare to try and draw up regulations that will apply to each and every kind of situation.

Secondly, rules and regulations might just be what this 'industry' does not need. Rules and regulations often have a stifling effect and I'm afraid it might just be the case when it comes to this kind of industry.

They should not be too worried about the taxation of these individuals. Most of the people doing these jobs, do not earn enough to qualify for the minimum requirements to fill out a tax form. These people also pay VAT on any purchase, so they are contributing to the Tax pool.

If you do qualify, you have to declare your extra income, and if you do not do that and they call you out for tax avoidance, you will pay huge penalties or possibly go to jail.

Most of the people doing these micro jobs are unemployed and do not need to fill out a tax return.

Micro jobs are an important aspect of decentralizing the job market. In fact, one could go as far as saying that micro jobs are a cog in the machine that makes up the sharing economy since individuals and businesses can pay anyone in the world to complete a task. Pending regulation and taxation aside, for the time being, the question is whether or not Bitcoin lends itself to being a preferred form of payment for micro jobs.
